163 Chapter 163
163.Chapter 163
“Seriously, you don’t have to go to the meeting. There’s no rush on the design from the Foster Group. If you’re really wiped out, why not just head home and get some rest?”
Sophia touched her face and managed a smile. “I’m fine. I just haven’t been sleeping well lately. There are some important clients at the meeting, so I need to be there. Don’t worry, I can manage.”
Half an hour later, Sophia set off for the Maritime Authority with Emily.
As expected, Easton was at the meeting, too.
But he had other pressing matters, and the meeting was split into a morning and afternoon session. When Sophia got to the Maritime Authority, the morning session had just wrapped up.
Sophia caught sight of him from afar and stopped in her tracks.
Thankfully, he barely paused before leaving with Gordon.
The afternoon session got underway quickly. Sophia walked into the conference room, caught the eye of the guy sitting across from her, and greeted him with a nod.
The meeting kicked off as the Maritime Authority’s officer started things off.
Sophia’s proposal sailed through with unanimous approval, and it was set to give Crestview Group a solid profit bump for the third quarter. She couldn’t be happier with how things turned out.
After the meeting, Benjamin handed his files to his assistant and walked over to Sophia. “Hi, Evan, it’s been a while.”
Sophia gave him a faint smile. “Hi, Mr. Locke.”
Emily realized that the important client Sophia had mentioned was actually someone she’d met back when she was studying in Japoria.
Benjamin was the vice president of Apex Trading in Yorkland.
Sophia took Benjamin to a café near the Maritime Authority, and even though it had been three years since they’d last met, they were still close.
“So, how long are you sticking around Jenston?” Sophia asked.
“I’ve got some personal stuff to sort out, so it looks like I’ll be in Jenston for a bit. Plus, Crestview Group and I just kicked off a new project with the Maritime Authority. A quarterly contract. Once that’s done, I’ll leave.” Benjamin said.
She nodded. “Mr. Locke, you’ve really mellowed out since back then. Sandra would be proud of you.”
Benjamin took a sip of his coffee, and at the mention of his wife, his expression darkened with sadness and regret.
Sophia had met Benjamin by accident, and even though she knew he’d messed up before, everything he did for his late wife over the years really moved her.
Actually, it wasn’t all his fault. Benjamin managed to stop himself before he truly crossed the line, and Sandra had already forgiven him. After working through their issues, they went back to being a loving couple.
However, that shameless mistress told Sandra something. In the end, Sandra killed herself. That woman was the absolute worst.
“It’s been so many years, and even now, the pain and guilt never go away. I have to keep going for Sandra. I’ll live out the rest of my life with her dreams,” Benjamin said, his voice low and heavy.
Sophia said earnestly, “Sandra was one of the most gifted artists I’ve ever known. Whenever I feel stuck at work, I’ll check out the site you made for her, and it always sparks new ideas for me.”
Sophia thought, ‘Sandra and my mom both have this magic in their paintings that always moves me, every single time.’

Sophia and Benjamin had been chatting for ages. As they left the café, neither of them realized that the woman in the hat had been quietly sitting right beside them the entire time.
