164.Chapter 164
Stella had been tailing Benjamin to the Maritime Authority since early morning, thanks to the info Minnie gave her. She saw him walk out with Sophia, and she slipped in behind them and followed them straight into the café.
As Stella listened in on their conversation, she realized Sophia had no clue that she was the one who wrecked Benjamin’s family back then.
After they left, Stella looked gloomy. She thought, What a coincidence. How come Sophia and Benjamin know each other?’
Benjamin didn’t just come to Jenston to sign a shipping deal with the Maritime Authority, he was probably here to settle the score with Stella.
Stella thought, ‘This guy is seriously a headache. If someone else could step in and take care of him, things would be way easier.
Stella sneered at the thought.
Sophia got back to Grandview Estate in the evening, and Lucas wasn’t home because May always took him over to hang out with Forrest at least once a week.
Lucas had always been adorable, smart, and well-behaved. The first time Forrest met him, he was totally charmed. Whenever they had dinner with Sophia, he’d always say he wanted Lucas to be his successor one day.
Sophia just laughed it off, but Lucas really took Forrest’s words to heart. He always studied hard, determined to grow up and do something great for the country, just like Forrest
Sophia whipped up a quick salad for dinner, and not long after, she got a call from Benjamin.
“Evan, are you free tomorrow night? I was thinking we could grab dinner. I’ve come up with a new idea for Sandra’s portfolio site, and I was hoping you could give me some feedback,” he said.
“Sure, I’m free tomorrow night, Sophia replied.
Benjamin sounded pleased. “Awesome. See you at the Summit Hotel at seven tomorrow night.”
After hanging up, Sophia opened her laptop at the dining table and started browsing through the personal art website Benjamin had created for his wife, who had passed away.
All these years, he’d never stopped promoting her work, and thanks to that, Sandra had become somewhat
well-known in Yorkland.
However, her art didn’t have much commercial value. Even when it went up for auction, Benjamin would donate all the proceeds to schools and orphanages worldwide.
All Benjamin wanted was for more people to know that his wife was an amazing artist.
Sophia felt both moved and a little sad about it.
Ever since Sophia moved into Grandview Estate, she’d started going for night runs.
It was December, and even though it was chilly, Jenston hadn’t seen any snow yet. The neighborhood was clean and quiet. Barely anyone else was out running at this hour.
Easton came to Grandview Estate on a whim. Just as he arrived and was on the phone downstairs, he caught sight of a familiar figure running past him.
A faint smile tugged at Easton’s lips. He strolled over to a tree, shoved his hands in his pockets, and just stood there, watching her run.
As Sophia ran past him again, he suddenly swept her into his arms.
Sophia was caught off guard and yelped in surprise at the sudden hug.
“It’s me, Easton murmured, his husky voice right in her ear.

Sophia looked up, and when she realized it was Easton, she shoved him away, clearly pissed off.
She said, “Easton, are you nuts? Do you have any idea how freaky that is, grabbing me out of nowhere in the middle of the night? I thought-”
“You thought I was some creep, right?” Easton gave her a playful look, smiling.
“Yes,” Sophia huffed, still annoyed.
Easton chuckled, bent down, getting close to her face, and his gaze turned serious. “I told you I wouldn’t let anyone hurt you again.”
