168 Chapter 168
168.Chapter 168
May and Sophia had the same thought, but neither of them said a word about it on the way to the hospital.
Benjamin was basically fine. There was just a small injury on his arm that would heal up after a few days of
rest.
After dropping him off at the hotel, May and Sophia finally drove away.
“Sophia, you think Stella’s kid isn’t Easton’s, right?” May asked.
Sophia nodded. “Yeah. If you look at the timing, there’s no way that kid is his.”
“Serves Easton right. That jerk has been played for a fool,” May scoffed.
Sophia stayed quiet, remembering how Easton had tried to talk to her about that child back then, but she hadn’ t wanted to hear it.
She thought, ‘Did he know all along that the child wasn’t his?
‘Then why has he treated Stella and her son so well all these years? And why has he never once tried to set the record straight, even when gossip was everywhere in Jenston?
‘And David goes to St. Mary’s Children’s House. If the father’s info was missing, there’s no way he’d get accepted. Or maybe Easton loves Stella so much that he’s willing to accept even this kind of situation.
‘Well, that’s possible. They’ve had feelings for each other since they were little.’
“May, let’s just keep this between us. No need to tell anyone else. It’s their business, not ours, and we really shouldn’t butt in,” Sophia said, her tone serious.
May nodded. “Yeah, I get it.”
Sophia hadn’t eaten anything all night, so by the time she got home, she was hungry.
Lucas was still awake, and the moment he saw her come in, he dashed over. “Mom, I want a hug.”
Sophia’s gaze softened as she looked at her son and pulled him into her arms. “Lucas, you smell so nice. Did you just take a bath?”
Lucas nodded.
Sophia asked Mia to whip up something quick for her, then went to take a shower.
When she came out, she saw Lucas sitting at the dining table, waiting for her.
She walked over and ruffled his hair. “Are you waiting for me to finish eating so I can tell you a bedtime story and tuck you in?”
Lucas couldn’t hide his excitement and nodded eagerly.
Sophia kissed him. “Alright, I’ll make it quick.”
By the time they got back to the room, it was already ten o’clock at night.
Sophia lay in bed with Lucas in her arms, her voice gentle and soothing as she told him a story. Maybe it was just too late, or maybe the story was boring, but Lucas drifted off quickly.
Sophia tucked him in, turned on a small lamp, and quietly left the room.
She lay down in her own bed, her mind racing with everything that had happened tonight; she just couldn’t get over how unexpected it all was.
Lost in her thoughts, she didn’t even notice when sleep finally took her.

“Katherine, please, let me come with you. Easton’s got a basketball game this afternoon, and I’m dying to see him,” Sophia begged.
Katherine rolled her eyes at Sophia. “Can you stop showing up here? I’ve told you, Easton’s never going to go for a girl like you.”

Sophia wouldn’t give up, tugging on Katherine’s sleeve. “Come on, I drew that sketch for you to give to Murray. Let me tag along, please. Next time, I’ll make you an even prettier one.”
Katherine just stared at her, lost for words.
“Well, three o’clock in the afternoon, at the basketball court entrance. Don’t be late,” Katherine said, putting on
her most serious face.
Sophia jumped up and planted a big kiss on Katherine’s cheek. “I freaking love you, Katherine. Hope you and Murray marry soon and live happily ever after.”
