Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 169

169 Chapter 169

169.Chapter 169

Sophia was so loud that Katherine blushed. She frantically looked around, then rushed to clamp a hand over Sophia’s mouth. “Sophia, if you shout again, I swear I won’t let you in.”

Sophia instantly chickened out, nodding like crazy until Katherine finally let go of her.

Sophia grinned from ear to ear. “Katherine, I’ll be waiting for you at the basketball court entrance at two thirty.”

Katherine replied with a huff, and the two of them went their separate ways.

Right on the dot at two thirty, Sophia showed up at the basketball court entrance.

Katherine knew Sophia was a handful, so she’d gotten there early herself.

Katherine tapped Sophia on the forehead. “Look at you. You call yourself a Jenston socialite, but you’re chasing after guys with zero self-respect. You’re just putting yourself at a disadvantage.”

Sophia pouted. “I like him. Haven’t you heard? It’s easy for a girl to get a guy. If I keep showing up in front of him, he will fall for me eventually.”

She thought, ‘Besides, back when we were at the hospital, he once promised he’d marry me.

It had been years since she last saw him, and she didn’t even know if he still remembered her.

However, those promises and the half a year they spent together at the hospital made Sophia believe that once Easton saw her, he would remember everything.

Sophia walked onto the basketball court, her heart fluttering with excitement. Everyone from their major was arriving one after another, and Katherine snagged her a spot right up front.

Not long after, Easton showed up as the captain, leading his squad onto the court.

Sophia’s eyes lit up as she gazed at the guy she’d been head over heels for all these years.

He stood tall with a killer smile, setting off a wave of squeals from the girls in the stands.

However, before long, Sophia watched as Easton headed over to the opposite side of the bleachers and handed a drink to a girl waiting for him.

Sophia had never seen Easton show that kind of gentle expression before. She tried to calm down.

Just then, the guy sitting next to her commented, “Easton showed up with his girlfriend again. I’m not gonna lie. She’s pretty cute.”

Sophia thought, ‘Girlfriend? Again? Wait, has Easton brought her out before? When did he even start dating someone? Did he ever say he had a girlfriend?’

Sophia’s heart felt so heavy that she could barely breathe. It was like something invisible was crushing her chest, making her feel totally suffocated.

Sophia jerked awake, realizing she’d just been dreaming about her college years and the first time she found out Easton and Stella were together.

The sadness just wouldn’t go away, so she got up and walked into the living room to pour herself a glass of

water.

Even though it was winter, the house felt stuffy and hot. Sophia opened the balcony door and stepped outside for some fresh air.

It was freezing out there, but the air felt so refreshing. She looked out at the lake in the distance, and much to her frustration, she felt like crying.

She sniffled, scolding herself in her heart.

Just as she was about to head back inside, she noticed the lights were on next door.

She thought, ‘Is someone having renovation work done this late at night? No way. The security downstairs would never let workers in at this hour. It’s probably just the owner.’

Not thinking much of it, Sophia went back inside.

Early the next morning, Sophia’s phone rang, waking her up with a start. Groggy, she picked up.

Benjamin sounded frantic. “Evan, the Maritime Authority just terminated our partnership with Apex Trading. It must have been because I got on Easton’s bad side last night.”
