171 Chapter 171
171.Chapter 171
With that, he slammed the phone down, still fuming.
Sophia felt like she could explode. She thought, ‘Easton, you asshole. Is Stella really worth you bending over backwards for her?’
After taking a while to cool off, she called Benjamin again and filled him in on what Easton said. Whatever he
decided to do next was his call.
Benjamin’s voice was calm. “Alright, thanks, Evan. I know what I need to do.”
Sophia couldn’t read Benjamin’s emotions, but there was still a way out. If Benjamin could let go of his personal grudges for now, Apex Trading might still have a chance to survive in the domestic market.
Stella was in her office, cackling as she picked up Minnie’s call. “Benjamin is a loser. He couldn’t even protect his own wife, and now he thinks he can take revenge on me. What a fool.”
“Stella, you kicked Benjamin out so fast. Aren’t you worried he’ll go blabbing to the media about what you did in Yorkland before he leaves?” Minnie asked.
Stella’s grin faded, but she looked unfazed. “Who’s gonna believe him?
“Even if he runs to Easton and tells him I was his side chick and that I pushed his wife over the edge, Easton will just think he’s just bitter because I turned him down.”
With Stella being so chill about it, Minnie figured there was nothing to worry about.
She said, “Oh, and one more thing about that person in the hospital. People said he was out of danger, but he couldn’t make it through the critical period after all. Looks like he won’t last another couple of days.”
Stella raised an eyebrow, smiling. “Good. That means we don’t have to worry about him anymore.
“I’ve been at the hospital with David these past few days. That old lady still hasn’t woken up. Honestly, I doubt
she ever will.”
Minnie had done so much for Stella, and deep down, she was still scared. However, every time, Stella’s luck seemed to hold out. Nothing they did ever left a trace. Therefore, Minnie started to relax a little.
Benjamin gave up in the end. After talking to Sophia, he posted an announcement online, saying he was resigning as vice president of Apex Trading. The next day, he booked his ticket and got ready to leave Jenston.
“Evan, I’m leaving. If you ever go back to Japoria, drop by Yorkland and visit me. They’re pretty close,” Benjamin said.
“Sure thing, Mr. Locke. Safe travels,” Sophia replied.
Ever since Easton hung up on Sophia, he’d been in a constant bad mood.
Gordon had been tiptoeing around him all week, careful not to do anything that might set the boss off.
He said, “Mr. Foster, a package just arrived for you downstairs. I had the bodyguards check it out. Nothing suspicious.”
Easton glanced up from his paperwork, his expression cool and a little impatient. “What package?”
“It’s from Benjamin,” Gordon said, setting the package down on Easton’s desk.
Easton told Gordon to open it, and inside were a bunch of photos and a letter.
The photos were all intimate shots of Stella with different men in Yorkland. Easton even recognized one of the
guys.
He didn’t give the photos a second thought. The only thing that really caught him off guard was Benjamin’s letter.
