177 Chapter 177
177.Chapter 177
Easton walked over to the kitchen, poured her a glass of water, and smirked. “What do you think?”
“Don’t tell me you’re here to get Sophia back,” Annie blurted out.
When Easton stayed silent, Annie’s eyes went wide, like she’d just stumbled onto some juicy gossip. She stepped right up to him. “Are you serious?”
Easton ruffled her hair. “Guess you and Julian still aren’t as close as you could be.”
Annie swatted his hand away. “Are you saying Julian knows, too?”
Easton took a sip of water and nodded.
Annie wasn’t about to get upset with Julian over something so minor. After all, when it came to Sophia’s personal stuff, he was not the kind of guy to go around telling everyone.
Annie quickly shook off her surprise. “Easton, you and Sophia have been divorced for five years. Now you suddenly want her back. What if she’s just not into you anymore?”
Easton’s hand froze as he lifted his glass. Honestly, he didn’t have an answer, but he didn’t care. All that mattered was that he wanted Sophia.
His gaze turned cold and determined. “I’ve never failed to get what I want.”
Annie knew Easton well; he’d never say something unless he was truly committed. Seeing him move right next to Sophia just to win her back, she could tell he was serious about making it happen.
Annie felt sorry for Sophia; she knew Sophia still had feelings for Easton.
Annie had asked that question on purpose; she just wanted to see what Easton would do if Sophia really didn’t love him anymore.
Seeing how determined he was, Annie genuinely hoped things would work out for them. After all, they already had a child together.
As for Lucas, Annie wasn’t about to say a word. She thought that if they really got back together, Sophia would be the one to tell him herself.
“Easton, if you’re really serious about Sophia, you’d better treat her right from now on. Honestly, you have no idea how much you owe her,” she said.
She turned and walked out of Easton’s apartment.
Easton stepped out onto the balcony, Annie’s words echoing in his mind. All those years, he’d let Sophia down; he’d said things he could never take back, and now the guilt hit him harder than ever.
Before he knew it, he was staring at the soft glow coming from Sophia’s apartment next door.
He thought, ‘What is she doing now?’
One of the best things about Grandview Estate was how insanely private it was.
Even though the apartments were right next to each other, they couldn’t see a thing inside the neighbor’s place, even if they tried peeking from the balcony. Plus, the soundproofing was good.
Easton had been living here for a few days now, but he still hadn’t run into Sophia.
However, he wasn’t in a rush. With how much Sophia disliked him right now, if he showed up too soon, it might just make things worse.
Just as he was deep in thought, his phone rang. “What’s up?”
“Mr. Foster, that guy from the hospital didn’t make it. He died a couple of days ago,” Gordon reported.
“Dead?” Easton’s tone turned frigid.
Gordon said, “Yeah. His name was Tom Grant, a fugitive from Greenridge Hills. He had a long record: kidnapping, extortion, and always going after wealthy families.

“The cops think he was on the run, saw the news about your grandma’s accident and her hospital stay, and decided to go for it.”
Once Gordon finished his report, Easton hung up without another word.
He glanced at the lights in Sophia’s apartment next door, remembering what she’d told him; she said she couldn’t believe Irene would have an accident out of nowhere.
And then, not long after, someone targeted Irene again. Easton was sure there was no way all this was just a coincidence.
