As Easton’s face grew darker and darker, the tension in the room was spreading like wildfire. Everyone could feel his mood casting a shadow over the whole meeting.

An hour later, Emily passed along the design draft Sophia had sent that morning. Easton took it and stared at it for ages.

Everyone in the room stole glances at Easton at the head of the table. He hadn’t said a single word since the meeting started, and no one had any idea what he was thinking.

With the boss staying silent, nobody dared to break the tension.

Emily nervously clasped her hands tightly under the table, her knuckles turning white.

Noticing Easton’s reaction, Gordon leaned in and quietly asked, “Mr. Foster, is there a problem with the design?” Easton looked up, his gaze sweeping over Emily and the Crestview Group team, his voice cold and annoyed.” Where’s Evan?”

Feeling the weight of everyone’s eyes, Emily answered nervously, “I’m sorry, Mr. Foster. Ms. Roth had returned to Japoria.”

Easton’s face was already thunderous, and when he heard Emily’s reply, he clenched the design draft even lighter. He frowned deeply, his voice turning ice-cold.

“What do you mean?” Easton snapped.

Emily realized that she had misspoken. She quickly explained, “Mr. Foster, I mean Ms. Roth, had to head back to Japoria for some urgent business.”

Easton tossed the design draft aside, stood up, and buttoned his suit jacket. His voice was cold and commanding. “This design doesn’t match our original vision. Tell Evan to handle the design and deliver it to Foster Group in person.”

With that, Easton stormed out of the conference room, his anger written all over his face.

The Foster Group team scrambled to gather their files and hurried out after him, leaving the Crestview Group team sitting there, trading uneasy glances. Nobody knew what to do next.

A few minutes later, Gordon came back into the conference room and pulled Emily aside. “Emily, you need to get in touch with Ms. Roth as soon as possible. Your design won’t stand a chance of getting approved until she’s back.”

Emily started to realize why things were going this way.

At 7 PM in Japoria, Sophia got a call from Emily,

“Sophia, have you had dinner yet?” Emily asked,

“Just having dinner now,” Sophia said. “So, how did the meeting go today? I’m guessing they didn’t have any problems with the design, right?”

Emily stammered, struggling to find the right words. But in the end, she told Sophia exactly what Easton had said

Sophia set her fork down, her face darkening with frustration. “How could the design possibly not fit the project’s vision? He’s clearly just giving us a hard time.”

Emily knew she probably shouldn’t say it, but she couldn’t help herself. “Sophia, honestly, I don’t think our design has any problem. Easton was pissed today because you weren’t there.”

Sophia instantly caught on to what Emily was saying. ‘Easton’s really mixing business with his own personal drama; she thought.

The more Sophia thought about it, the more pissed off she got. Easton was impossible to read. She never knew what he was going to do next.
