Julian didn’t know that Easton already knew Sophia was the design director at Rothea Designs. He just played along, acting like she was simply busy with company matters over there.

Easton didn’t even register Julian’s excuses. Julian’s words kept echoing in his mind.

She’s staying in Japoria for a while? Is she really not coming back to Jenston? Or is she just going to vanish for another five years, like before?’ Easton’s thoughts spun out of control.

Sophia had her own career in Japoria. There was a real chance she might never return.

“The Southern Development Zone project is the most important thing for both our companies right now. Sophia, as the main person in charge, just left Jenston without a word, leaving a mess behind. That really makes me question Crestview Group’s commitment and sincerity,” Easton said.

He didn’t say what he was really thinking. He just kept it strictly business, laying out how crucial the partnership was.

Julian paused, thinking it over. From both a business and personal perspective, Sophia really did leave in a hurry, so he couldn’t blame Easton for being pissed.

But ever since Julian figured out what Easton was really after, he wasn’t worried at all that Easton would bail on the deal or try to make things hard for Crestview Group.

As Annie joked with him yesterday, Julian was basically acting like he didn’t have a care in the world.

Julian smiled, then said in a businesslike tone, “Easton, as far as I know, although Sophia isn’t in Jenston right now, she has been in daily contact with Foster Group’s project lead. The design issues are already being addressed, and you should receive her email shortly.”

Easton realized Julian wasn’t going to give him the answer he wanted, so he decided not to waste any more words.

After Easton hung up, Julian didn’t look the least bit annoyed. If anything, he was secretly pleased.

Annie had been standing right next to him. As soon as he hung up, she gave him a playful smack. “Seriously, can’t you just root for them to make up already? Why not just tell him Sophia got on a plane yesterday and she’ Il be back in Jenston in two hours?”

Julian smiled, slinging an arm around Annie’s shoulders. “Sophia has been into him for over a decade. It’s about time he had to struggle a bit to win her back.”

After hanging up, Easton was in a foul mood. Just then, Charles and Ryan called, inviting him out for drinks at the Roycourt Club.

Charles sat down next to him with a cheeky grin. “Easton, how about we get a couple of pretty girls in here to cheer you up?”

Easton shot him a glare, clearly annoyed. “Get lost.”

Charles didn’t say another word and just quietly drank with him.

Easton poured himself another drink and knocked it back in one go.
