“Easton, Annie’s already married. I only have you left to worry about now. I really hope you’ll start your own family soon,” Andrew said, giving Easton a pat on the shoulder with a knowing look.

Easton respected Andrew a lot. He smiled and nodded politely. “I’m trying, Uncle.”

Andrew’s face lit up. “So, you’ve got someone special in mind?”

Easton just smiled and took a sip of his drink.

Andrew burst out laughing. “That’s great. If Irene wakes up and hears you’re finally settling down, that’ll definitely help her get better.”

Thinking about his grandma, Easton felt his heart soften. “Yeah, she’d be really happy.”

Stella had Minnie with her this time. The two stayed on the sidelines, watching Easton talking with Andrew and the rest of the Hughes family. They’d been waiting forever for a chance to get close, but it just wasn’t happening.

Minnie gave Stella a reassuring look. “Don’t worry, Stella. The stuff is already in your room. Just wait for the perfect timing, go up and talk to him, and do exactly what we planned.”

Stella glanced at Easton, her eyes full of excitement and confidence.

‘Tonight, Easton is going to be mine for sure, she thought to herself.

Easton suddenly got a craving for smoke. He excused himself and slipped out to the side lounge’s balcony.

With a cigarette in one hand and his phone in the other, he just felt like calling Sophia out of nowhere.

But before the call could even connect, Stella showed up right behind him.

Stella called out, “Easton.”

Hearing her voice, Easton ended the call and turned around. The moment he saw Stella, his brows furrowed, and his tone was icy. “Do you need something?”

Stella couldn’t figure out when things had started to change. Easton would go out of his way to keep his distance from her in public, acting like he didn’t even want to see her. Back then, he wasn’t like this at all.

‘It’s all Sophia’s fault. If it weren’t for her, Easton wouldn’t be so cold to me now, Stella thought, bitterness rising in her chest.

“My interview just wrapped up, and I happened to see you out here,” Stella said.

Easton nodded. “Is David doing better now?”

“He’s fine. He loves learning so much. I wanted him to rest at home for a bit, but after only a few days, he was already begging to go back to kindergarten,” Stella said, chatting about David like she used to.

Stella talked to Easton about David’s everyday life, just like before.

Easton smiled. “David’s got Murray’s curiosity, always wants to learn.”

They chatted for a while, and just then, a waiter passed by with a tray of drinks.

Stella stopped him, took two glasses from the tray, and handed one to Easton. “Easton, this is for you. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me and David over the years.”

Easton nodded, picked up his glass, and drank it without hesitation.

“I’ll head out. Suit yourself,” he said.

Easton didn’t hang around the balcony for long. The gossip hounds in Harlinton were way nosier than the ones back in Jenston.

He really didn’t want to get caught up in any more gossip with Stella and have Sophia get the wrong idea.

Easton returned to Andrew’s side, helping him entertain the guests and handle the social scene.

As the dinner was wrapping up, Easton had knocked back a decent amount of drinks, not too much to get

Since Easton’s headaches flared up again a couple of days ago, Gordon wasn’t taking any risks this time. He stuck with Easton all the way back to his suite and didn’t leave until he was sure Easton was fine.

Easton was still pretty clear-headed, but after all that socializing, he was completely drained, body and mind. He was just about to hit the shower when the doorbell suddenly rang.

He figured Gordon must’ve forgotten something, so he didn’t think twice and just walked over to open the door.

But as soon as he opened it, a blast of strong perfume assaulted his nose, making him instinctively frown.

Before Easton could even process what was happening, Stella practically launched herself at him. “Murray, I missed you so much. Why did you leave me and David?”
