Ryan noticed May was frozen in his arms, so he gently stroked her face. “Remember anything?”

May quickly pushed him away. “I don’t remember a thing. And don’t think I’m going to take responsibility for this. We’re both adults, it’s not like you lost out or anything.”

With that, she grabbed her clothes from the couch and rushed into the bathroom.

Half an hour later, May peeked out of the bathroom door. Seeing that the bedroom was empty, she finally relaxed and stepped out.

‘See? I knew it. Someone like Ryan, the heir to the Howard Group, would never get hung up on me, she thought.

She grabbed her bag, opened the bedroom door, and found several housekeepers waiting outside. They greeted her politely, “Good morning, Ms. Young.”

An older maid stepped forward. “Ms. Young, Mr. Ryan Howard is downstairs waiting to have breakfast with you.”

May gave an awkward smile. “No, thanks. I’ve got work to get to today. Can you tell me where I am exactly? I’d like to order a car on my phone.”

The maid smiled. “This is the Howard family’s place out in the eastern suburbs. If you need a car, I can ask the butler to get one ready for you.”

May was totally floored. ‘Eastern suburbs? Isn’t this the Howard family’s old place?’

‘Unbelievable. Ryan’s actually brought me to his real home, his headquarters, not just one of those other properties he owns, she thought.

‘Seriously, what’s his deal?’ she wondered.

‘If her father ever found out I was getting into trouble like this, he’d skin me alive, she thought.

The maid smiled and said, “Let me show you downstairs, Ms. Young.”

With a sigh and her shoulders drooping, May reluctantly followed the maid down to the dining room on the first floor.

Ryan watched with a half-smile as the maid led her in, and she slumped down next to him, looking utterly defeated.

He slid a glass of milk in front of her. “Drink some milk first. All that booze last night must’ve wrecked your stomach.”

May took a deep breath and looked at him seriously. “Mr. Howard, I think we need to have a real talk.”

Ryan set down his cup, watching her, cool and unbothered.

“If you’re about to say that what happened last night, or even back in Japoria, was just some random fling between us, trust me, you don’t want to go there,” Ryan said.

May’s face instantly turned cold. “Why?”

Ryan stood up, buttoned his suit jacket, and leaned on the table with one hand, a half-smile playing on his lips. “Do you really think you can just walk out of here that easily after stepping into my world?”

‘Typical. Anyone who runs with Easton is just bad news, May thought to herself.

“He’s basically saying that if I mess with him, I’m stuck dealing with the consequences,” May grumbled inwardly.

May knew there was no point arguing with him, so she stood up, ignored him, and walked off in a sulk.

“Butler, get a car ready for May,” Ryan called out suddenly.

Ryan knew better than to rush things, so he didn’t stop her. He had plenty of time. May could forget about cutting ties with him now.

At Crestview Group, Sophia walked into the office just as May was arriving.

They exchanged glances, both at a loss for words.

Finally, Sophia broke the silence. “May, did you use protection?”

May rubbed her forehead, leaning on the desk with a helpless sigh. “I think so… probably.”

Sophia let out a long sigh. “If we’d known, wer Successfully unlocked! Dar. How did we even end up running into those guys?”

They both sighed at the same time.
