After Gordon finished his report, he snuck a glance at Easton. Seeing the slight frown on Easton’s face, he could easily understand why Easton was in such a mood.

When Sophia was staying at the hospital, Easton would show up at the entrance every single day, waiting for updates on her recovery before heading back to work.

Ever since Sophia’s discharge, she had been staying at the Roth residence, never returning to Grandview Estate. Easton hadn’t seen her for nearly half a month now.

Easton had hoped to finally see Sophia at today’s Crestview Group meeting. But hearing she was leaving Jenston for a work trip only made him even more frustrated.

Easton settled into the chair. “Has she left already?” he asked.

Gordon nodded.

After a brief silence, Easton capped his pen, stood up, and reached for his coat. “Get the jet ready. I’m flying to Redrock City in an hour.”

Gordon’s eyes lit up, excitement bubbling up instantly. “Absolutely, I’ll take care of it right away!”

As Easton put on his coat, he stopped Gordon at the door. “Hold up. Make sure David has a blast today, and have someone personally drop him off at home when they’re done.”

Gordon answered respectfully, “Don’t worry, Mr. Foster. I’ll handle everything.”

Easton nodded in response, grabbed his phone, and headed out of the office.

Sophia had just taken on a last-minute project. There was a vacant plot of land out on the outskirts of Redrock City that her father had bought at auction years ago, and it had been left abandoned for more than ten years.

A few days ago, Redrock City officials informed her of their plans to initiate a highway project in the area. To honor her father’s wish, Sophia decided to go see it for herself.

This time, she didn’t bring Emily along. Instead, she brought Paolo.

It didn’t feel safe for two girls to travel alone. Plus, Redrock City was a pretty backward area, and she’d never been there before, so bringing a bodyguard seemed like a smart move.

Paolo was sent by Easton to keep her safe, so she could trust him.

“Ms. Roth, you surprised me. Didn’t think someone so gentle could keep pace with a rough guy like me,” Paolo teased.

Sophia was panting, backpack slung over her shoulder, as she trailed Paolo to the plot her dad had snagged ages ago. The land sat high on a hill, and the trek up was no joke.

“Back in Japoria, I used to go sketching and camping out in the middle of nowhere. Even in Jenston, I’d head out solo with just my backpack.

“So, keeping up with you is nothing. I guess all that training finally paid off,” Sophia said.

Paolo grinned, thinking, ‘She is tougher than she looks. No wonder Mr. Foster thinks so highly of her’

Sophia set her backpack down, pulled out a map and her tablet, and got straight to work.

Paolo didn’t interrupt her. Instead, he scouted the area and took a bunch of photos that might come in handy.

There were lots of villages around here, but most of them were seniors and little kids. Those young and strong had already left for the big cities to find work.

Sophia couldn’t help but think that her dad was a truly good man.

This was Maria’s hometown, and he bought this land not just to ensure her family lived better, but also to ease the lives of the villagers.

That’s why Sophia was planning to build a large care and retirement center right here. When it came to anything medical, Ryan was the first person who popped into her mind.
