He shot Sophia a look and continued, “Sophia’s been really busy lately and hasn’t been sleeping well at night. She was planning to come home with me for dinner after work today, but you beat us to it.”

Irene glanced at Sophia’s face. “Honey, why are you working so hard? You’re the boss’s wife at Foster Group. If there’s any work, just tell your staff to handle it. Why do you have to bust your butt like this?

“Easton, what’s wrong with you? Why are you letting your wife work herself to the bone? She should just stay home and look pretty.”

Easton smiled, “You’re right, Grandma. I’ll make sure to handle things better next time.”

Sophia felt her head spinning. ‘What kind of show are these two putting on?’ she thought.

Sophia managed an awkward smile.

Before Sophia could even process what was happening, Irene took her hand and led her to the head of the table, settling her right next to Easton.

“You should be sitting here. Why are you two sitting so far apart?” Irene said.

Easton thoughtfully pulled out her chair for her.

Sophia took a deep breath and nodded. “Thanks.”

The meeting continued, and Sophia didn’t bother with anything else; she just focused on the documents in front of her, carefully marking the important points.

Irene sat right next to her, nodding with approval every now and then, clearly proud of her.

After the meeting, Sophia knew there was no way she could leave now. She handed her documents to Emily, then supported Irene and took her on a walk-through of Foster Group.

It was the first time Sophia had spent so much time at Foster Group, and she even checked out every single department.

She was genuinely surprised by just how massive Foster Group was; they were involved in so many different industries and projects. No wonder Easton was always on business trips, spending half the month away from home.

And every higher-up was a total powerhouse.

Sophia couldn’t help but admire Easton. No wonder Foster Group had grown so fast in just a few years. Under his leadership, every department ran like clockwork, and even the frontline staff were meticulous in their work.

Easton really was the most driven young entrepreneur in all of Jenston; no wonder the business media had started calling him the boss of the business scene lately.

‘I have to admit, he’s seriously impressive,’ Sophia thought to herself.

As Sophia walked around Foster Group with Irene, she started to feel like something was definitely odd.

At every department they visited, Irene didn’t just recognize all the execs and board members; she was totally up to speed on how Foster Group ran, knew exactly where every project was at, and could offer advice right on the spot.

Sophia couldn’t help but wonder, ‘Is Irene’s memory just selective or something?’

Two hours later, when the three of them returned to Easton’s office, Sophia found herself momentarily lost in thought.

It was only her second time here; the first had been more than five years ago, when she’d walked in clutching divorce papers, her heart in turmoil.
