283 Chapter 283
283.Chapter 283
When Annie got to the airport, she looked as pale as a sheet.
Sophia was worried Annie might faint, so she rushed to her side and held her up.

“Annie, don’t worry. Julian’s going to be fine. Their plane’s already landed. Once they come out, we’ll get him to the hospital right away,” Sophia said softly.
Annie’s eyes filled with tears as she leaned on Sophia and nodded. She said, “Julian will be okay. He’ll be okay, he just has to be.”
Sophia didn’t say anything else. She just quietly waited with Annie by the private jet’s exit for them to come out. A moment later, Paolo, Luke, and a team of medics came out, wheeling Julian, who was still unconscious. Annie and Sophia hurried to his side, each holding one of Julian’s hands tightly.
“Julian…” Annie whispered, her voice shaking with emotion.
“Julian…” Sophia called softly, tears streaming down her face.
No woman could hold back her tears when the person lying there was someone she loved with all her heart. Their hearts were breaking with worry and pain.
Sophia had made sure to keep Julian’s getting hurt a secret. Crestview Group was already in a crisis, and if the media caught wind that their CEO was injured and in a coma, it would just add fuel to the fire.
That’s why she and Annie didn’t tell Edward either.
Sophía arranged for Julian to be treated at a well-known private hospital in Jenston and told Paolo to have the bodyguards rotate shifts to keep watch over him.
To keep Edward from getting suspicious, Annie only went back to the Roth residence at night to sleep, spending all her days at the hospital by Julian’s side.
But the truth always came out. Crestview Group’s stock kept crashing for a whole week, and the board couldn’t sit still any longer. Some of them had already started contacting Edward.
When Sophia got the call from Edward, she knew the secret was out.
Edward didn’t blame her for keeping it from him all this time. Instead, his heart ached for her: a young woman carrying so much pressure and public scrutiny all by herself.
Paolo picked up Edward from the Roth residence, took him to the hospital, and then headed straight to Crestview Group.
Sophia was already waiting for him at Crestview Group’s entrance.
“Uncle Edward,” Sophia called out.
Edward reached out, gently taking Sophia’s hand. He said, “You’ve worked so hard, kiddo.”
Sophia gave a gentle smile and shook her head.
“Come on, Sophia. The old-timers on the board are upstairs waiting for us,” Edward said with a wry smile. Sophia escorted Edward into the conference room, and all the directors immediately stood up, offering respectful hellos.
Back when Edward was in charge, he was a real powerhouse. Crestview Group only made it this far because he led his brother and the board through thick and thin. Even now, the board still looked up to him with nothing but respect.
The meeting dragged on for hours. Edward didn’t need anyone to explain: he knew all too well that Crestview Group was in a world of trouble.
The company’s funds were nearly dried up, and the only option left was to try borrowing from the banks. Sophia had already made the rounds at every bank in Jenston, but if vas like they’d all gotten wind of the bad

news ahead of time. No matter how she pleaded, every single door slammed shut in her face.

She’d even considered putting Crestview Group’s land up for auction just to scrape together some cash, but the board elders shot it down every time, refusing to budge.
The port project and the Southern Development Zone were bottomless pits: no returns in sight, just endless spending. Sophia felt completely overwhelmed, like she was drowning in problems with no way out.
