Easton’s head snapped up, looking sharply at Gordon, as if doubting what he’d just heard. His voice was low and tense as he demanded, “What exactly happened?”

Gordon summarized the key incidents at Crestview Group this month.

“And what’s the situation with Sophia now?” Easton asked, his voice tense.

Gordon paused for a moment before replying, “I called Emily this afternoon, but she didn’t say anything and hung up right away.

“Everything I know is from Kevin. We still don’t have the details.”

“Where’s my phone?” Easton asked, his brows furrowed, his eyes full of worry.

Gordon pulled the phone out from the drawer by the bed.

Easton barely waited before trying to call Sophia.

But Gordon said, “Mr. Foster, it’s the middle of the night back home. Ms. Roth is probably asleep. If you call her now, you might wake her. Maybe just leave her a message on WhatsApp?”

Easton checked the time on his phone and saw it really was late back home.

Easton had only just come to and was still feeling drained. Gordon stood nearby, worried about his condition and hoping he’d rest a bit longer, but Easton’s mind was stuck on Sophia and what was happening at Crestview Group.

Easton opened his WhatsApp and went straight to the pinned chat with Sophia. He wanted to send her a message, but just stared at the screen, suddenly unsure what to say.

He looked up and asked, “Did Sophia call me while I was unconscious?”

Gordon shook his head and said, “No.”

“What about Annie?” Easton asked.

Easton thought, ‘Even if Sophia wouldn’t call me herself, with everything happening at Crestview Group, there’s no way Annie wouldn’t have tried to get in touch.’

Gordon shook his head again and said, “No, she didn’t either.”

Easton still couldn’t believe it. He checked his call log and WhatsApp messages, but sure enough, there was nothing there.

Gordon thought it was weird, too.

A realization hit Easton. He looked up at Gordon and asked, “How did Stella end up at the hospital? There’s no way she could’ve known I was coming to Menolia for surgery.”

Gordon kept it brief. He said, “That day, when you and Stella went to the cemetery, your condition suddenly flared up. She saw how much pain you were in and called us right away.

“I rushed over with the bodyguards, and when you collapsed, everything turned into chaos. As the bodyguards hurried to get you to the hospital, none of us even realized Stella was right behind us.

“It wasn’t until Mr. Howard finished working out the surgery details with the hospital that we finally noticed Stella had been with us the whole time.”

Easton’s expression turned grim as he took it all in.

Gordon hesitated, then said, “Mr. Foster, do you think it could be…”

Easton’s gaze darkened. He said, “We’ll see if she’s involved tomorrow. We’ll put her to the test and find out for sure.”

Gordon immediately understood what Easton meant.

Early the next morning, Stella showed up at the hospital just like she had every other day.
