318.Chapter 318
She snapped, “Easton, have you lost it? We don’t even know the truth yet. How can you just go around hitting people?”
Sophia anxiously checked the cut at the corner of Derrick’s mouth, her hands trembling.
Seeing Sophia fussing over another guy, Easton’s jealousy flared up out of nowhere. He yanked her over, pulling her close. He demanded, “Sophia, is he really that important to you? Weren’t you supposed to be in Japoria? So, the moment you heard he was in trouble, you just had to rush all the way back to play his bodyguard?”
Sophia jerked her hand away, snapping angrily, “This has nothing to do with you. Stay away from me.”
Stella watched Easton’s anger flare up, feeling a surge of satisfaction. She stepped forward, clinging to his arm, putting on a show of heart-wrenching sobs, clearly trying to stir up even more drama.
She said, “Easton, it has to be Sophia. She must’ve told Derrick to kidnap David and hurt him. She hates me. Ever since you two got divorced, she’s been out to get me. Just like everyone else, she suspects David is your son.”
Stella’s voice grew more and more hysterical. She said, “She’s so heartless. She wouldn’t even spare a child. Sophia, if you have a problem with me, take it out on me, but don’t you dare hurt my son.
“Easton, it has to be her!”
Easton’s mind was racing with thoughts of David, still fighting for his life in the ICU. A flash of anger crossed his eyes, and when he looked at Sophia, his gaze was cold and brimming with fury.
He demanded, “Sophia, was it really because you hated Stella that you told Derrick to kidnap David?”
Easton stepped forward and gripped Sophia’s wrist tightly, his face dark with anger.
Sophia let out a cold, bitter laugh, the taste of resentment burning in her chest. She shot back, “Easton, is that really how you see me? Just some despicable woman who’d throw a child’s life away just to vent her anger?”
May couldn’t take Stella’s drama anymore. Watching Sophia get blamed yet again, she stormed over and shoved Stella to the ground, her anger exploding.
May snapped, “Stella, are you out of your mind? If Sophia really wanted to go after your kid, why would she wait until now? It’s you who keeps trying to ruin her, again and again.
“If Yvonne and Minnie hadn’t taken the fall for you, you’d have been locked up ages ago.
“Now your son gets kidnapped and hurt, and you’re here screaming accusations with zero proof. Framing one person isn’t enough for you, huh? Now you’re trying to pin it on someone else. Stella, you’re vicious.
“Honestly, we’re all starting to think you set this up yourself. Maybe you’re so twisted that you’d even sacrifice your own kid just to frame Derrick and Sophia.”
Stella’s face twisted with rage, her usual sweet facade shattered. She shot back, “May, you’re full of it. And you call yourself a lawyer? Aren’t you afraid I’ll sue you for defamation?”
May said, “Go ahead, and sue me. Why don’t you go ahead and reopen the whole Crestview Group construction scandal and that highway crash Sophia got into? Let’s see who’s really getting sued for slander, or maybe even murder.”
Guilt written all over her face, Stella clammed up, not daring to say a word.
Just then, the doctor stepped out of the ICU.
Stella scrambled to her feet, rushing over and grabbing the doctor’s arm, her voice trembling with anxiety.
She asked, “Doctor, how’s my son? Is he okay?”
“Mr. Foster, Ms. Weston, you can relax now. The kid made it through. He’s safe,” the doctor said, his tone calm and reassuring.
Everyone finally breathed easy when they heard the doctor say David was out of danger.
Easton turned, reaching for Sophia to explain himself, but Derrick quickly stepped in front of her, shielding her.
Derrick said, “Easton, you might be sharp in business, but you’re still blind to what kind of person Stella truly is.” Derrick grabbed Sophia’s wrist and turned to leave, but not before tossing a cold warning over his shoulder at Easton, “Just remember this: one day, you’re going to regret ontvou me Sophia odby
