Chapter 326
“But you kept hurting Sophia and were even cruel enough to go after my grandma. Don’t bother denying it. I’ve already uncovered everything.”
Stella’s head snapped up as she stared at Easton in disbelief. ‘How could he know? Alex didn’t give him any evidence just now. Why?‘ she thought, panic rising in her chest.
“Easton, it’s not… me…” Stella stammered, trying to defend herself.
Easton cut her off before she could say another word, “Stella, whatever bond we had started when we were kids. You were there for me during that dark half–year in the sanatorium, and I’ve always been grateful for that.
I used to think you were still the gentle, kind girl I knew back then, but after everything I’ve learned about what you’ve done, all I feel now is disgust and hatred.
“Now you’ve got two choices. Either you turn yourself in, or I’ll take you to the police station myself. The ball is in your court.“”
Stella stood frozen, outwardly calm, but inside, a cold chill ran down her spine.
She stared at Easton in shock. No matter what she chose, there was no way out, she was going to end up in prison.
‘No, I can’t go to jail. I can’t become the laughingstock of Jenston’s elite circles, she thought, her heart pounding with dread.
She tried to rush to Easton, desperate to beg for mercy, but the bodyguards grabbed her before she could get close.
“Easton, please! I’m begging you. If not for our past, then for Murray’s sake, for David’s sake. He’s just a kid. Please, have mercy on me,” she pleaded, her voice shaking.
Easton got up and walked right up to her. “Stella, you have no right to talk about David in front of me. If he ever learns how cruel his own mother really is, can you imagine how much that’ll hurt him?
“You’re not worthy of being his mom. From now on, don’t bother yourself about him, I’ll make sure he’s looked after.”
Stella broke down in tears. “Easton, David can’t live without his real mother. He’s still so little; he needs me. Please! I’m begging you. Let me go.
“I promise I’ll never abuse David in the future. I’ll bring him up. Please have mercy on me, Easton. I’ll change.”
Easton ignored her completely and walked away without even glancing back.
Stella was frantic. If Easton left now, she was doomed to end up in jail. She struggled desperately against the bodyguards holding her, but they were way too strong for her to break free.
With no other options left and seeing Easton about to walk out the door, she yelled out, “Easton, you really think just because you burned those files, nobody will ever know the truth about Sophia’s parents?”
Easton stopped dead in his tracks when he heard her say that.
Seeing him stop, Stella sneered. “If you turn me in to the cops right now, I’m going to tell every reporter in Jenston that I’m actually Sophia’s half–sister from a different father.
“Don’t think I’m bluffing. You can run a DNA test on our hair, and the results will prove it. Reporters in Jenston aren’t stupid.
“Even if they can’t get their hands on a DNA test, as long as I drop this bomb, they’ll start digging into the connection between Sophia’s mother and my father.
“Trust me, once they start, they’ll find out everything..
Easton whipped around, shock written all over his face.
Seeing the shock in his eyes, Stella felt a twisted sense of triumph. “Easton, if you don’t want me spilling secrets, then let me go. Let me leave Jenston.”
Easton’s gaze was as cold and unfathomable as a frozen lake, and as he gazed at Stella, a murderous intent flickered in his eyes.
