Easton stayed silent, and Stella had no idea what he was thinking.

Suddenly, Easton muttered, “Stella, looks like the police station isn’t on your itinerary anymore.”

He tilted his chin, signaling the two bodyguards to take Stella away. His voice was calm as he added, “Mr. Lowe will tell you

how to handle the rest.”

Stella’s eyes filled with panic, her body shaking uncontrollably as cold sweat beaded on her forehead.

She screamed, “Easton Foster, what are you trying to do? Where are you taking me?”

Gordon could tell Easton was totally fed up with Stella. He waved his hand, motioning for the bodyguards to hurry up and take her away.

Easton returned to his car and leaned back in the rear seat, eyes closed for a quick rest. Gordon slid into the driver’s seat and checked the rearview mirror.

Then he reported, “Mr. Foster, Ms. Chandler seemed to overhear the start of your conversation with Stella in the meeting room. Do you want me to have her come see you tomorrow?”

Easton pinched his nose bridge and slowly opened his eyes. “That’s unnecessary. I trust her. Katherine and Murray were dating in college, but I never paid much attention to why they split.

“Just fill her in on what happened tonight, but leave out anything about Sophia and Stella’s connection. The fewer people who know, the better.”

Gordon nodded. “Understood, Mr. Foster,” he replied.

After George was rushed to the hospital that afternoon, he’d been unconscious ever since. When Catherine got the call, she was scared half to death.

She tried calling Alex, but he couldn’t be bothered with her. He’d grabbed a file from home and rushed out, and he hadn’t shown up since.

And Stella, that ungrateful little traitor, wouldn’t even answer her calls. To make matters worse, she’d gone and switched off her phone completely.

Catherine was pacing restlessly in the hospital room when the housekeeper burst in, breathless. “Mrs. Weston, something terrible has happened.

“The Weston residence is on fire. There are four or five fire trucks out there, but the flames just won’t go out.”

Catherine was so stunned she nearly lost her balance. She exploded, “How does a fire just start out of nowhere? Did you forget to turn off the stove before you left?”

The housekeeper shook her hands, panic written all over her face. “No. I swear I didn’t cook anything. After we heard Mr. Weston was sent to the hospital, I left with you.

“I only made breakfast this morning, and then I was with you the whole time. I never touched the stove again, not even for lunch.”

Hearing that, Catherine finally remembered she’d gone out to play cards in the morning and had lunch outside.

The housekeeper had been with her all day, and they’d only just gotten back when George’s assistant called.

They were about to head out again when Alex suddenly dashed home to grab a file.

“Oh no! There were so many expensive things in the house, and with the fire raging like this, everything’s gone,” Catnene cried out in despair.

She rushed to George’s bedside, crying her eyes out. “George, wake up! After all these years, you never loved me.

“I don’t care now, but now you’ve bankrupted the Weston Group and left me with nothing. How am I supposed to live?”

Catherine was shaking the unconscious George like crazy, just as the doctor came in for his rounds and rushed to stop her.

“Mrs. Weston, what are you doing? Mr. Weston is still in critical condition, shaking him like that could make things worse,” the doctor said urgently.

After a round of shouting and cursing, Catherine, patched on her purse and stormed out of the hospital room.
