Stella turned, flashing him a sultry smile. “Thank you.”

She reached up, wrapped her arms around his neck, and teasingly nipped at his earlobe. “Whatever Minnie gave you, I can give you, and more.”

Easton pulled up at the Roth residence right at seven a.m.

He was just about to get out when the front door swung open and Derrick came out with a kid in his arms, looking like they were heading out for some morning exercise.

Soon after, Sophia followed, wearing a pink windbreaker.

Right then, the kid shouted, “Mommy, hurry up! You’re gonna fall behind us!”

Easton, still sitting in his car, caught every word the kid said.

‘Wait, did that kid just call Sophia Mommy?‘ Easton thought, completely thrown.

He watched the three of them walk right past his car, but he just sat there, frozen. He couldn’t even bring himself to open

the door.

His mind was all over the place; for once, he was totally lost about what to do.

He stared at the kid. The face looked so familiar. Suddenly, something clicked, and he was stunned.

Easton was so lost in thought, he didn’t even realize when he’d started driving, or how long he’d been on the road.

He parked and went inside. The estate had a housekeeper who came by regularly to keep the place clean, and when Easton walked in, she was startled to see him.
