May rubbed her forehead, a little exasperated. ‘Seriously, who’s got the guts to send me flowers again?‘ she thought.

She crooked her finger, motioning Flora to come closer. “Flora, didn’t I tell you? Next time someone sends flowers, just deal with them right away. Why’d you bring them into my office again?”

Flora spread her hands and shrugged. “This time, I really couldn’t do anything. The sender is actually sitting in your office right now. I mean, I can’t just kick out a guest, right?”

May flicked Flora’s forehead. “You had a guest and didn’t give me a heads–up? You little troublemaker, I must’ve spoiled you too much.”

Flora stuck out her tongue. “Come on, don’t keep your guest waiting! I’ll go make you some coffee.”

May couldn’t help but laugh, shaking her head. “Alright, hurry up.”

As soon as May walked into her office and saw Ryan lounging there like he owned the place, she nearly jumped out of her skin.

“Holy crap… Did you fly here or something? How did you get here so fast?” she blurted out.

Ryan got up and walked right up to May, making her instinctively press herself against the door in surprise.

Seeing May look so flustered, Ryan couldn’t help but want to mess with her a little.

He smirked, propping his hand against the doorframe and leaning close, his voice low and teasing. “Fast? What do you mean, fast?”

May was pretty sure he was making a dirty joke, but she had no proof.

As he got closer, May’s eyes blinked rapidly, and her ears started to turn red.

The usually feisty May was suddenly as timid as a little chick.

Ryan gave her cheek a playful squeeze. “You came to the café with Sophia, but you’d rather hang around outside all that time than come in and say hi to me.

“Hiding from me like this, guess you really don’t want to own up to what you owe me, huh?”

Just thinking about her past with Ryan gave May a headache.

She quickly pushed Ryan away, the air thick with awkwardness. But if she didn’t set things straight now, he’d just keep pushing his luck.

“Ryan, I thought I made it clear. We’re not right for each other. Can you just stop chasing after me? We’re both adults, and honestly, you didn’t get the short end of the stick here,” May said.

“Who says I didn’t lose out? That night in Menolia was my first time ever,” Ryan protested.

May blinked, not used to seeing Ryan act so seriously all of a sudden.

Ryan said, “May, I like you. I’ve liked you since the first moment I saw you. I’m not the type to just mess around. If I didn’t care about you, I wouldn’t have let you drag me off that night.

“Will you give me a shot? Let me chase after you for real?”

May looked up at the man in front of her. He was seriously handsome, and filthy rich too. She wondered, ‘He put it all out there… Should I just say yes and go for it?

‘No way, I haven’t even checked with Forrest yet.

‘If he ever finds out I have been seeing a rich guy on the sly for this long, he will totally lose it.‘
