north, while Grandview Estate is way down south.”

Sophia’s hand froze mid–air, egg in hand. She thought, ‘Wait, Easton actually moved back to Silvermoon Bay?

‘Seriously? How is that even possible?‘ She was stunned.

“Sophia, hand me the milk,” Annie said.

Sophia was totally spaced out and didn’t respond. Annie called again, a little louder, “Sophia, the milk!”

That finally snapped Sophia out of it, and she passed the milk to Annie.

“So Easton’s living at Silvermoon Bay now? All by himself?” Sophia blurted out, still a little stunned.

Annie chuckled. “Who else would put up with him? He’s so aloof, always annoyed by everyone. Honestly, I doubt even Irene would want to share a place with him.”

Sophia just smiled, keeping her thoughts to herself.

Ever since Katherine adopted David, she got the hang of being a mom real quick.

That day, she had David with her and was hanging out with Sophia at Hillcrest Park.

And of course, Lucas came along for the fun, too.

When Lucas saw David, he walked up confidently and took his hand. “Hey, David! Long time no see. Do you remember me?”

David was naturally quiet and a bit timid, so even if he recognized Lucas, he still felt a little nervous.

But Lucas’s bright personality quickly put David at ease and lifted his spirits.

Watching Lucas and David playing together, Sophia felt a rush of emotion. Setting aside the fact that David was actually Murray’s son, the two boys were basically like cousins.

But Sophia never mentioned any of this to Katherine; she just didn’t think it was necessary.

“Katherine, you’re really great with David,” Sophia said.

Katherine’s eyes were gentle, full of real motherly love as she looked at David. “He’s the only family Murray left in this world. When I look at him, it’s like I’m seeing Murray again.

“Sophia, do you think I’m being foolish? Or do you feel it’s not really worth it for me?”

Sophia shook her head. “No way. Everyone has their own way of chasing happiness. Only you can decide what’s worth it for yourself.”

Katherine took Sophia’s hand. “I saw all that gossip online a while back. There’s nothing going on between you and Derrick. No matter what people say, Lucas definitely isn’t his kid.”

“Sophia, Lucas is Easton’s, right?” Katherine said quietly.

Katherine never believed any of those rumors. She knew Sophia way too well. Back in college, Sophia was crazy about Easton. There’s no way she’d just fall for someone else right after the divorce.

Besides, Derrick is the Roth family’s adopted son, at least on paper. He and Sophia are basically brother and sister, at least

in name.

Sophia glanced away from the kids, then turned to Katherine with a faint smile. “Katherine, I’m guessing you’ll keep this secret for me, won’t you?”

Katherine never doubted Sophia for a second. She nodded. “Of course.”

They were on the same page now, so neither of them brought it up again.

Sophia glanced at the time and was just about to tell the kids it was time to head home, but the moment she looked away. even less than two minutes, Lucas and David were nowhere to be seen.

Sophia and Katherine immediately freaked out, frantically searching all around where the kids had just been playing, but no matter how many times they called out, the kids didn’t answer at all.

Sophia immediately called the police and asked them to check the security footage.

When they watched the footage, they saw a clown selling balloons walking by.

The kids were completely captivated by the balloons, and before anyone realized what was happening, the clown suddenly
