She said, “Catherine, you want to see Nicolas, right? As long as you don’t hurt the kids, just say the word and I’ Il figure out a way to bust him out of jail for you.”

Catherine perked up at that.

“Fine, you’ve got one hour. Get Nicolas out and bring me 15 million in cash. If you don’t, I’ll throw the two kids off the cliff,” Catherine threatened.

Catherine hung up before Sophia could say another word.

Derrick’s face was grim. The call had ended, and all they knew was that Catherine was somewhere near the eastern suburbs.

Easton thought of something and said in a low voice, “Elmwood Bistro is in the eastern suburbs, and there’s a mountain close by.”

Derrick and Easton exchanged a look, then quickly called Fletcher and Paolo.

Sophia heard their conversation, and before anyone could react, she dashed out of the police station and took off in her car.

Katherine called out in a panic, “Mr. Foster, hurry up. Sophia just drove off alone. You need to go after her, now.”

Easton and Derrick quickly jumped into their own cars and headed straight for the eastern suburbs.

The police followed right behind, having already coordinated with their colleagues in the eastern suburbs. As long as the kids were safe, there was still a good chance to rescue them.

Easton was worried sick about the kids, but what really kept him on edge was Sophia’s state of mind.

Her child had been snatched by Catherine, and even though she wasn’t crying and looked calm on the outside, deep down, she was about to lose it.

If she lost control, Easton was genuinely afraid she might do something she’d regret.

He floored it, catching up to Sophia’s car.

Thirty minutes later, they both pulled up at the foot of the mountain near the eastern suburbs.

Easton jumped out of his car and ran straight to Sophia.

He said, “Sophia, stay calm. Mr. Lowe and his guys are already set up nearby, and the elite police team from the eastern suburbs is out there searching, too.

“Everyone is looking for Catherine, and we’ll hear something any minute now. The kids are going to be fine.” Sophia was ghostly pale, tears rolling down her face. She grabbed Easton’s shirt, her voice shaking. “Nothing will happen to Lucas. Easton, you have to save him.”

Seeing Sophia so devastated brought a sharp pain to Easton’s heart.

“I promise I’ll get Lucas back,” Easton said, his voice unwavering.

Easton supported Sophia as they climbed the hills, step by step. Time was slipping away, and there were less than fifteen minutes left before the one-hour deadline.

Sophia’s heart raced.

Easton pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her close.

Just then, Derrick called. “Mr. Foster, we’ve pinpointed Catherine’s hideout.”

Derrick sent the location to Easton, and the latter carefully led Sophia toward the spot.

It didn’t take long before they saw Catherine standing at the edge of the cliff, gripping both kids’ hands tightly. This place was steep, and even the elite police team could barely get near it. Easton quickly sent a text to Ryan.

There were less than ten minutes left before the deadline

Derrick and Paolo were standing just behind a huge rock, less than 30 feet from Catherine.

Suddenly, someone stepped on a branch, and the sharp snap startled Catherine.

“Sophia, come out, all of you. If you don’t show yourselves right now, I’ll toss the kids off the cliff,” Catherine yelled as she dragged the kids a few steps closer to the edge.
