Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 381

381 Chapter 381

381.Chapter 381

A hint of surprise flashed in Easton’s eyes as he glanced at Sophia, as she’d never spoken to him like this before.

“Sure,” Easton agreed.

Sophia released his hand, her gaze never leaving the emergency room doors.

Easton knew exactly what Sophia was feeling. She was scared, afraid of having to face death again.

She’d already felt the agony of losing someone she loved, and she’d do anything to avoid going through that a second time.

Her parents passed away when she was just a kid, and Edward had always treated her like his own daughter. In Sophia’s heart, Edward was, in every way, her father.

Easton understood that feeling better than anyone did.

He sat quietly beside her, not disturbing her, silently watching over her, and always attuned to her emotions.

Two hours later, Eleanore finally stepped out of the emergency room. The moment Sophia saw the doors swing open, she rushed over.

“Dr. Keats, how’s Uncle Edward?” Sophia asked anxiously.

Eleanore smiled, her lips curving up. “He’s fine now. Good thing you got him here in time. If you hadn’t, Mr. Roth really could’ ve had a stroke.”

Sophia was taken aback. ‘A stroke? Out of nowhere? How could that be?’ she wondered.

Eleanore went on, “Mr. Roth was hospitalized after falling into a coma a while ago. After he got out, he never managed to get his life back to normal.

“He hasn’t been resting well, which led to high blood pressure. And high blood pressure is the most dangerous trigger for a stroke.”

Sophia finally got it. It was probably because she’d disappeared for a few days after finding out how her parents died, and then Lucas got kidnapped by Catherine.

Edward had been stressed out the whole time. There was no way he could’ve gotten any proper rest.

Edward was wheeled out of the emergency room by the doctors and nurses. Sophia clutched his hand, her heart aching with worry. “Uncle Edward, can you hear me?” she called softly.

Edward, still wearing an oxygen mask, slowly opened his eyes. Seeing Sophia’s tearful eyes, he reached up and gently touched her face, his voice weak. “Silly girl, I’m okay. Don’t cry, alright?”

Hearing his words, Sophia started sobbing even harder, unable to hold back her emotions.

Easton walked over and gently steadied her. “Let’s get Mr. Roth settled in his room first,” he said softly.

Sophia nodded her agreement.

They walked right behind the doctors and nurses.

After Edward was back in his hospital room, the doctor put him on an IV. Sophia never left his side, keeping watch by his bed.

Easton had texted Gordon to grab some food for Sophia and bring it to the hospital.

He set the food on the coffee table, then came over to Sophia and spoke gently, “Come on, Sophia. Have something to eat. You haven’t eaten anything all night.”

Sophia was about to turn him down, but then she realized Easton hadn’t eaten either, not even had a drink.

She nodded in response and sat down beside him on the couch.

Easton opened up a bowl of porridge, set it in front of her, wiped the spoon, and handed it over.

Sophia looked over at Easton. “Thanks for everything tonight. Uncle Edward wouldn’t have made it to the hospital so fast if it weren’t for you.

“And also for getting Ryan to set everything up in advance.”

Easton gave her a long, gentle look and said softly, “You’ve thanked me so many times tonight. I accepted them all. Now, eat something before the food gets cold.”

Sophia lowered her eyes and slowly ate a few bites.

Seeing Easton busy replying to messages on his phone, Sophia reached over, picked up a bottle of water from the coffee table, opened it, and handed it to him.
