383 Chapter 383
383.Chapter 383
The next morning, the Roth family’s driver had gone out early to fill up the car and hadn’t returned yet.
Sophia planned to wait with Lucas by the door, but as soon as they stepped outside, she spotted Easton’s car parked out front.
Easton was casually leaning against his car.
Seeing Sophia holding Lucas’s hand, Easton walked over and took the backpack from her. “Hop in. I’ll drive you both to school and work,” he offered.
“You got here pretty early, huh?” Sophia asked, a little surprised.
Easton nodded. “I got here at half past six this morning.”
Sophia pressed her lips together, about to say something, when Easton suddenly scooped Lucas up into his arms. “Lucas, how about Daddy taking you to school today?” Easton said.
Lucas’s gaze swept between the two adults. Seeing Sophia didn’t say anything, he piped up in his little voice, “Mommy, he says he’ll take me to school and you to work. Do you agree?”
Seeing that Easton had already waited so long, and with Lucas right there, Sophia didn’t want to refuse his kindness. She gave a nod in agreement.
Easton opened the back door and carefully buckled Lucas into the children’s seat. Sophia was genuinely surprised since she hadn’t expected him to be so prepared.
Lucas politely thanked him. Easton shot him a gentle smile and reached out to pat his cheek. “You’re welcome.”
Sophia watched the two interact and felt a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. She could tell Lucas really liked Easton, but since they hadn’t spent much time together yet, he’d never called him “Dad”.
Easton seemed to know exactly what Lucas was thinking. He never rushed Lucas
Whenever he was with Lucas, he was always patient, taking his time to talk with the little fella about anything and everything.
Sophia couldn’t help but wonder if Easton had always been this patient with kids like David in the past few years.
For some reason, those thoughts just popped into her head out of nowhere.
Even though it was all in the past, it still bugged her a little inside.
She knew David was Murray’s kid and understood why Easton had been so protective of David, but no matter what, David was still Stella’s kid.
Sophia had to admit to herself that she just couldn’t be as open-minded as Katherine.
On the way, Sophia stayed quiet, gazing out the window. Easton kept checking on her in the rearview mirror from time to time.
Easton broke the silence. “Are you heading to the office, or stopping by the hospital to see Mr. Roth?”
Sophia turned to him, her tone calm. “I’m going to the office. There’s a critical meeting today. Already spoke to Uncle Edward this morning. I’ll drop by and keep him company after work.”
Easton thought for a moment. “Want me to go with you tonight?”
Sophia was a little surprised by his offer, then quickly replied, “No, thanks…”
Before she could finish, her phone started ringing.
“Sorry, but I need to take this,” Sophia said.
She picked up her phone. “Good morning, Frank. Why calling so early?”
As soon as Easton heard Sophia mention the name “Frank”, he instantly knew it was Frank calling.
‘Frank really is just like Derrick said, always blowing up Sophia’s phone, and it’s barely even morning, Easton thought, feeling a bit annoyed.
Seeing Sophia chatting and laughing with another man like that, Easton felt a stab of jealousy. But he couldn’t just blow up at her the way he used to. She’d hate it, maybe even start avoint
His grip on the steering wheel tightened.
Successfully unlocked!
Lucas suddenly sneezed, and Sophia quickly grabbed a tissue from the back seat to wipe his nose.
