393.Chapter 393
393.Chapter 393
Edward had expected Easton to answer that way, and his answer didn’t catch him off guard.
Ever since Sophia got back to Jenston from Japoria, she’d been running into Easton all the time, whether it was business or personal stuff.
Besides, Easton had lent Crestview Group a hand more than a few times.
If Easton hadn’t pulled some strings behind the scenes this time, Crestview Group might’ve already gone under, maybe even drowning in debt.
And as for the Weston family, no matter the reason, it was ultimately Easton who helped take them down.
Even if Edward was getting a bit forgetful, he wasn’t so out of it that he couldn’t see what Easton really felt for Sophia.
Not to mention, they had a child.
Irene was truly farsighted. Back when Sophia divorced Easton and went abroad, Irene actually came to the Roth residence herself.
She hoped Edward would let Easton have a shot at making amends one day.
And now, Easton was putting his cards on the table for Edward, basically admitting he regretted it all.
If there was still a chance to make things right, he was just asking Edward not to get in the way.
After all that Irene and Easton had said, Edward knew he wasn’t in any position to decide for Sophia anymore.
But at the end of the day, it was Sophia’s call.
Edward replied, “I get it. You may go back. Whatever happens between you and Sophia, that’s for you young folks to sort
out.
“No matter what happens, I’ll stand by whatever Sophia decides.”
Easton shot him a grateful nod. “Get some rest, Mr. Roth. I’ll bring Lucas over to see you in a couple of days.”
“Sure,” Edward agreed.
Annie and Lucas were sitting on a bench in the garden, enjoying their ice cream.
“Annie, I heard you mention… was your cousin, so does that mean you are a relative from his side? But you’re also my uncle’ s wife… I’m so confused,” Lucas said, scratching his head.
Annie was wiping the food stain from Lucas’s mouth and couldn’t help but laugh at his logic. “Lucas, honestly, you can call me whatever you like. The most important thing is, I’ll always be your family.”
Lucas nodded in response.
“Then I’ll just stick with Annie,” he said.
Annie ruffled his hair. “Lucas, how come you never call him ‘Dad”?”
Lucas lowered his head. “Because he…”
After leaving the hospital room, Easton headed out to the garden to find them and caught their conversation as he walked up.
Watching Lucas’s adorable little figure, Easton felt a wave of guilt. He’d never imagined that, because of him, Lucas had almost suffered.
Just thinking about all the suffering Sophia and Lucas had endured made Easton’s heart twist with pain.
“Lucas, time to go home,” Easton called out.
Annie heard Easton’s voice behind them, so she took Lucas by the hand and walked over.
“Say goodbye to Annie,” Easton said.
Lucas sweetly bid Annie farewell, then slipped his hand into Easton’s as they headed out of the hospital together.
Easton never tried to rush things with Lucas, and he never forced him to call him “Dad”. Instead, he treated Lucas more like a buddy than a father.
While Sophia was away in Japoria, Easton handled everything himself for lucas, from meals to bedtime routines. He never let anyone else help out.
Successfully unlocked!
Every morning, he’d drop Lucas off at kindergarten veivre nequiry to Fuster Group, and every afternoon, he’d leave work on time to pick Lucas up after class.

At night, he’d help Lucas with his bath and read him stories, keeping up the routine for more than two weeks straight.
Easton really felt it in his heart. He knew just how much Sophia had been through over the years, and honestly, she was nothing short of incredible.
For someone who looked so petite and gentle, she’d managed to raise a little kid on her own, graduate with top marks, and even launch Rothea Designs.
‘She’s truly remarkable. Absolutely amazing, Easton thought to himself.
