394.Chapter 394
“Lucas, did you video call your mom today?” Easton asked.
Lucas came out of the bathroom, towel-drying his hair, and shook his head.
“How about we call your mom for a video chat?” Easton suggested.
Lucas nodded eagerly, his face brightening with joy. “Okay!”
Easton remembered that Sophia had blocked him on WhatsApp ages ago, and he was still stuck in her blacklist dungeon with no hope of parole.
For days now, whenever Lucas wanted to video call her, he had to use his own phone.
Easton suggested, “Lucas, I forgot to charge your phone. Why don’t you use mine to call your mom first, and see if she’ll add me back on WhatsApp?
“Then we can finally video chat together. Sound good?”
Lucas nodded in agreement, took Easton’s phone, and called Sophia right away.
If May were here, she’d be poking fun at Lucas and calling Easton a cunning one.
If Lucas had even graduated from kindergarten, he wouldn’t let his dad trick him like this.
Sophia had just finished her meeting when she got a call from Lucas, who was using Easton’s phone. “Hello?” she answered.
“Mommy, are you busy?” Lucas’s little voice piped up.
Hearing her son’s innocent voice instantly softened Sophia’s heart.
“Sweetie, I’m done with work’ now. Why are you calling me from your dad’s phone?” Sophia asked, her tone gentle.
“My phone’s dead. Mommy, I want to video call you. Can you hurry and add the WhatsApp ID of this phone?” Lucas said, sounding a bit anxious.
Sophia had only been keeping in touch with Easton by phone lately, and totally forgot he was still stuck on her WhatsApp block list.
If Lucas hadn’t mentioned it, it wouldn’t have even crossed her mind.
“Oh, okay. Wait a sec,” Sophia replied.
A minute later, after hanging up, Sophia sent Easton a video call request on WhatsApp.
But when the call connected, it was Easton’s face that popped up on the screen.
Sophia froze for a second. “Where’s Lucas? Didn’t he say he wanted to video call me? Where did he go?”
Easton showed up on the screen, looking as handsome as ever, his voice deep and smooth. “He just finished his bath. I told him to dry his hair first. He’ll be here soon.”

It was their first time video chatting alone, and Sophia felt kind of awkward.
Easton missed her too much, his gaze soft, almost lovesick. “Has Rothea Designs been keeping you busy lately?”
Sophia nodded in response.
“When are you coming back?” he asked quietly.
Sophia bit her lower lip. “Soon. Just a few more details to sort out, and I’ll be back in about a week.”
Easton’s eyes sparkled with excitement. “How about Lucas and I come pick you up when you get back?”
Before Sophia could even reply, Lucas came dashing over. Easton passed the phone to him and quietly slipped out of view.
Mother and son spent a good ten minutes just talking on the phone together.
“Lucas, it’s really late now. You should hurry and get some sleep. You have school tomorrow, and your dad needs to work, too,” said Sophia.
Lucas obediently said goodnight to her and ended the call.
“Dad, I’m gonna go to bed now,” Lucas said.
Easton was laying out Lucas’s clothes for the next day when he heard that s weet word from behind him.

Lucas tilted his head. “Dad. You are my dad, aren’t you?”

Easton tried to hide how happy he was, keeping his voice steady. “Of course, I am.”
Lucas was in a great mood, smiling up at him. “Goodnight, Dad.”
Easton sat beside him on the bed, tucked Lucas in, and kissed him gently on the forehead.
“Goodnight, Lucas,” he said softly.
There were still a few days before Sophia was due back, and just like every morning, Easton got up and went to Lucas’s room to wake him.
He sat down on the edge of the bed, looked at Lucas and saw his cheeks were all red. Easton reached out to feel his forehead. It was hot.
Lucas had a fever.
