396 Chapter 396
396.Chapter 396
That was why Ryan didn’t think it was a good idea for Easton to bring Lucas to the hospital. It was safer for him to stay home.
Ryan added, “I talked to the deputy director. He’ll swing by again this afternoon. The flu’s really bad right now, so make sure the house staff members clean and disinfect every corner today.
“Have them wear masks, and keep an eye on their temperatures, too.”
Easton had seen the news yesterday: Jenston was getting hit hard by the flu lately, and he was pretty sure Lucas picked it up at kindergarten.
After ending the call with Ryan, Easton made sure the house staff knew what to do, then called Windmere Estate to remind the butler to look after his grandmother.
But he didn’t mention Lucas being sick to Irene. He didn’t want her to worry or show up out of the blue, and if she ended up catching the flu from Lucas, that’d be a real problem.
Easton hadn’t been back to Foster Group these past couple of days. The folks over at the Roth residence had heard Lucas was sick, and they were all worried sick.
But once they found out Easton had a doctor around the house, they could finally relax a bit.
Easton stayed by Lucas’s side late into the night, constantly wiping his forehead and helping him sip water.
Watching Lucas slowly get better, Easton finally felt hi
worries start to ease.
Sophia called. Easton had messaged her as soon as Lucas got sick, so she was already in the loop.
“Is Lucas feeling any better?” Sophia asked.
Easton stepped out of the room with his phone. “He’s a lot better now. No more sneezing, and his cough’s way less than before.”
Sophia could hear how tired Easton sounded. “Thanks for everything. I’ve already booked my ticket. I’m flying back tonight.” Hearing Sophia was coming back, Easton couldn’t help but feel happy.
“I’ll pick you up at the airport tomorrow,” he offered.
Sophia refused politely, “Don’t bother. I know you’re already worn out from looking after Lucas, and you’ve got your hands full at Foster Group.
“I just called Paolo. He’ll pick me up tomorrow and then drive me over to see Lucas.”
Easton felt a pang of disappointment when he realized Sophia didn’t want him to pick her up.
“Alright,” he agreed.
He lifted his hand to his mouth and let out a couple of quiet coughs.
“Easton, are you sick?” Sophia asked.
“No. I just swallowed wrong while drinking water. Take care. See you tomorrow,” Easton replied.
“Alright. See you tomorrow,” Sophia said.
After hanging up, Sophia suddenly felt that Easton’s tone was a little off. ‘Was he upset?’ she wondered.
She couldn’t help wondering if that was because she didn’t want him to pick her up at the airport.
Sophia shook the thought off her head. ‘No way. Easton’s the CEO of Foster Group. He wouldn’t get bent out of shape over something so trivial.’
Easton wasn’t a child, anyway.
After packing up, Sophia headed out and swung by Rothea Designs to deal with some paperwork and blueprints before anything else.
She spoke to Jason, “Jason, May and I have double-checked this contract, and it’s good to go.
“When you get to Haverton, walk Virginia’s assistant through everything and see what their take is. If they’re cool with it, you can sign the deal right then.”
Jason took the contract. “No problem, Evan. I’lSucce

“I heard Virginia’s coming back to Haverton at the feat. All coordinate with her assistant and set up a time for you two to meet.”

Sophia nodded, gathering her papers. “Alright. Just keep me posted. I’ve got a flight tonight, so I’m heading to the airport
now.
“If anything pops up at work, just drop me a message or email, and I’ll handle it as soon as I’m back in Jenston.”
After wrapping up her work, Sophia hopped in a cab and headed straight for the airport.
