After walking the deputy director out of the study, Ryan turned back, looking a bit worried. “Easton, Sophia’s not as sturdy

as you.

“She’s coming back to Silvermoon Bay tonight. Aren’t you worried she’ll catch whatever you’ve got? Maybe you should give her a her a heads-up about your situation.”

Easton’s face darkened. “Don’t worry. I’ve already told the house staff what to do. When Sophia gets here, I’ll have her take Lucas back to the Roth residence for the night.

“The house staff have cleaned and disinfected every inch of the house, inside and out. As long as she stays out of this study, she’ll be fine.

“I already told her I’ve got an important meeting tonight, so she knows I won’t be able to see her. Once she leaves with Lucas, I’ll head back to the master bedroom to sleep.”

Ryan nodded in understanding. “Alright. Get some rest. I’ll walk the deputy director out. If anything comes up, just call me, okay?”

“Yeah. Go ahead,” Easton replied.

About an hour after Ryan left, Sophia’s car pulled up to Silvermoon Bay.

Sophia stared at the villa in front of her, a mix of familiarity and strangeness washing over her.

“Mrs. Foster, you’re finally back. Lucas has been whining all day about when you’d come home,” the house staff member greeted her warmly.

‘Home?’ Sophia echoed the word in her mind.

But to be exact, it was just the place she had lived for a year.

Sophia gave a faint smile. “Has Lucas eaten yet?”

The house staff nodded. “Yes, he has. Lucas is feeling much better today, and his appetite’s back.”

As Sophia was about to head inside, the house staff hesitated before saying, “Mrs. Foster, Mr. Foster said if you’d like, you can take Lucas home with you tonight.”

Sophia was genuinely surprised.

Just in the car, she’d been wondering if Easton would be upset if she took Lucas home as soon as she got back.

After all, Easton had been looking after Lucas these past few days. If she just took Lucas away now, he’d probably feel a bit reluctant to let go.
