401.Chapter 401
Easton really wasn’t feeling well and knew he shouldn’t have gotten so close to Sophia. But when he saw her just now, he rejoiced.
He found himself drawn to her, unable to resist getting closer.
Just as Sophia was about to head into Lucas’s room, Easton’s cough echoed through the hallway again.
Her brows knitted slightly. “Easton, if you’re going to use the AC tonight, just grab the humidifier from the walk-in closet and plug it in.”
After saying that, Sophia paused, a strange feeling creeping in. ‘Why do I still remember exactly where I used to keep the humidifier?’ she wondered.
Easton was just about to say something, but Sophia slipped into the room and locked the door quickly.
He let out a chuckle and shook his head in resignation.
Once he was in the master bedroom, Easton went ahead and did exactly what Sophia told him to do. He got the humidifier from the walk-in closet and plugged it in.
Even though he felt awful, as he listened to the steady drizzle outside, he couldn’t help but feel an unexpected calm settle over him.
He knew it was because the lady of his house was back. His heart felt gentler than ever.
The next morning, Sophia was up early to make breakfast for Lucas. After he finished eating, Myra kept him company in the living room while he drew.
Sophia headed back to the bedroom to get ready for her work call. She glanced at her phone. It was almost ten. ‘Why is Easton still not up?’ she wondered.
She grabbed her phone and walked over to the master bedroom door. Out of courtesy, she figured she should at least send him a message or give him a call.
But after she sent him a text and tried calling twice, he still didn’t reply.
Sophia started to worry. Easton had a history of head problems. Could this sickness make it worse?
After thinking for a moment, she knocked on the door. A few minutes went by, but there was still no answer.
After a second thought, Sophia carefully turned the doorknob on the door to Easton’s room and tiptoed inside.
To her surprise, Easton wasn’t in bed. The sheets were rumpled, and the blanket was still tossed aside. He’d definitely slept here.
‘Where did he go?’ Sophia wondered to herself.
Sophia was still puzzled when, all of a sudden, the bathroom door swung open. Hearing the sound, she turned her head.
Easton stood there with a gray towel slung low around his hips, using another towel to dry his wet hair.
Sophia was frozen, unable to take her eyes off Easton for even a second.
She couldn’t help but think, ‘Damn! This guy’s got an incredible body. Not only is he tall and graceful, but his waist is lean and toned,’
Those abs were right there for her to see. She had to admit he had got an irresistible kind of sexiness.
‘He really is a devil in disguise, she thought.
And to top it off, he was ridiculously handsome.
Easton stood there, slowly drying his hair, and he could practically feel Sophia’s gaze burning into him, making his skin tingle with heat.
He wondered if his fever was coming back because he felt way too hot all of a sudden.
Thinking about it, he couldn’t help but feel pretty pleased with himself.
‘Guess Sophia’s not just into my face. She’s into my body too, he thought, feeling a surge of confidence.
Easton cleared his throat, a teasing smirk on his lips as he stepped closer to Sophia. “Sophia, you…”
That was when Sophia finally snapped out of i Successfully unlocked! urried out of the master bedroom, and closed
the door.
Easton wondered if she was feeling shy.

He just shook his head, lips curving into a subtle smile.
Sophia went back to Lucas’s room, dropped into the office chair, and took a deep breath, trying to steady her nerves.
She walked into the bathroom and gave her face a quick wash.
‘No way. He needs to get over this cold ASAP so I can take Lucas back to the Roth residence, she told herself.
