Just as Easton was about to walk over to Sophia and Lucas, his phone on the table started vibrating. He frowned, his tone icy as he answered, “What is it?”

It was Ryan calling.

He grumbled, “Easton, seriously? Now that Sophia is home, you’re just gonna ignore your best friend?

“Don’t forget, rain or shine, I was the one who kept bringing the vice dean over to check on you and your kid these past few days.”

Easton wasn’t in the mood for his nonsense. “Just get to the point.”

“Is Sophia busy today?” Ryan asked.

Easton turned and glanced at Sophia and Lucas. “No.”

Ryan said, “Could you do me a favor to ask her if she knows where May went for her business trip? I can’t find any flight info, and her assistant’s lips are sealed.”

Easton was genuinely surprised. Weren’t they just in their honeymoon phase? Not long ago, those two were at Oceanview Club every day, openly doing PDA all the time.

Honestly, Easton had wanted to boot Ryan out of there more than once.

‘So what’s going on with them now? Is this what people online mean when they say, “The more you flaunt it, the faster it ends?” Easton thought.

‘Gee! Ryan, about time you got a taste of your own medicine, he snickered to himself.

“Did you and May get into a fight?” Easton asked.

He was in a pretty good mood right now, so he figured he might as well play the nosy friend and get in on Ryan’s drama for a bit.

Ryan gave Easton a quick rundown of what happened.

“You don’t even know if you have a fiancée? Can you even believe that?” Easton retorted in disbelief.

Ryan was totally stumped. Before he dated May, he seriously had no idea about that mystery fiancée who just dropped out of the sky and didn’t even know what she looked like.

Before May grilled him that day, he’d just stormed out of his parents’ house after a blowout with his parents about the engagement.

Who would’ve thought May would find out before he did?

‘How am I supposed to explain this?’ Ryan thought.

May was a lawyer, and she always had the upper hand in an argument. While questioning him, she was scarier than a detective grilling a criminal.

The engagement was real. There was no way he could just make up some story to fool her.

The kicker was, May didn’t even let him get a word in before slamming the phone down.

And she didn’t stop there. Not even ten seconds later, she blocked him everywhere-phone number, WhatsApp, you named

That night, she didn’t even bother coming home to Grandview Estate. That was their shared apartment.

Ryan continued, “When I rushed home, May had already packed up all her things and left. I went to her law firm, but her assistant said she was out on a business trip.

“I can’t just go bother Forrest. He’s always busy, and besides, he probably has no idea about what’s going on between us.

“I wouldn’t dare say anything without May’s permission.”

After hearing Ryan’s story, Easton couldn’t help but get a bad hunch.

Sophia and May were as close as sisters, so if Ryan and May had a falling out, Sophia definitely already knew all about it.

Now he was worried. Would Sophia start thinking he was just like Ryan, another guy who couldn’t be trusted?

Easton still hadn’t managed to fix his image in Sophia’s eyes, and there was no way he could let their drama ruin his shot at winning her back.

Easton replied, “You really think Sophia would tell me anything about her best friend? She knows how things are between us. Come on, don’t kid yourself.”

Ryan thought about it and realized Easton was right.

Easton turned and headed upstairs with his phone. “How’s the charity project coming along?”

“All the paperwork’s ready, and I’ve already sent it over to Crestview Group. Sophia should be back at the office tomorrow to handle it. I’ll let you know what happens,” Ryan replied.

“Good. Whatever you have to do, make sure Hayes Group doesn’t get involved in this fundraiser,” Easton said, his tone firm.
