Katherine was genuinely surprised when Easton said it himself.

She thought, ‘If it had been Sophia from back then, maybe Easton could’ve gotten together with her in no time.

Sophia had been through so much, and her marriage really hurt her. Even if Easton was serious, Katherine still thought it would be a long shot.

Now, she’d actually made it happen, but it seemed like she didn’t care about it anymore.

Katherine didn’t remark much. After all, it was their business. But deep down, she really hoped they’d find their happiness together.

After Katherine left the CEO’s office, Allison came in right after.

Easton kept working on his documents, not even glancing up at her.

Allison said, “Mr. Foster, I talked to my dad about what you mentioned yesterday. He was a bit hesitant at first, but I really had to work hard to convince him.

“The day after tomorrow, he’ll be back at the research center, leading the tech team to get the product back on track.” Easton replied in a steady voice, “Good. Thanks for your hard work.”

Allison added, “Dad said he might come to Jenston next month to visit Mrs. Foster.”

Easton gave a slight nod. “Okay, I got it.”

He added, “Also, from now on, Ms. Chandler will be in charge of the Southern Development Zone project.

“Starting today, you’ll be assisting Ms. Chandler with all the legal matters going forward.”

Allison was surprised, wondering, ‘What?

‘Why would Mr. Foster hand over the Southern Development Zone project to Katherine? Wasn’t Gordon in charge of it all this time?

‘When did it become her turn?

‘If Katherine’s in charge now, does that mean I’ll have to take orders from her from now on?’

“Mr. Foster, I…” Allison began.

Easton instinctively frowned and looked up. “Do you have a problem with that?”

Seeing the impatience on Easton’s face, Allison shook her head. “Not at all. I’ll go back to work now.”

Easton didn’t even bother to look at her again, just gave a casual grunt in response.

Allison walked back to her office, still seething. ‘What’s really going on between Katherine and Easton?

‘Every time there’s a prime project, a chance to go abroad, or even a business trip or conference with him, she’s always his first pick.

‘That vixen Katherine!’

Allison believed there was more between Easton and Katherine than met the eye.

Allison felt like she had no leverage left. With Stella gone, Easton was surrounded not just by his ex-wife but also by Katherine, who might even be his side chick.

She dropped into her chair, clutching the edge of a file, her knuckles pale with anger.

‘Easton, will you ever really see me?’ Allison thought bitter

Emily entered the office and gestured at the pile of files on Sophia’s desk.

Sophia smiled and slung an arm around her. “Looks like you and Paolo are really hitting it off.

“He sent me all these files, and you guys did an amazing job. This saved me a ton of work. Tonight, let’s go out for a big meal. May and I will treat you.”

Emily was thrilled, but she couldn’t help asking, “Aren’t you going to invite Paolo?”

Sophia shook her head. “I just told him, but he’s heading to Riverdale with Mr. Grant this afternoon and won’t be back for a few days.

“We’ll make it up to him when he gets back.”

Emily nodded, getting it.
