“Is Easton in there?” Ryan asked, barely able to contain his excitement after getting Sophia’s email and call. He couldn’t wait to brag to Easton about his success.

Gordon smiled politely. “Mr. Howard, Mr. Foster just finished a meeting and is in his office now. I’ll take you in.”

Ryan waved him off. “No, thanks. I’m not a stranger here. Go ahead and get back to work. I’ll go in myself.”

Gordon nodded. “Alright.”

Ryan knocked on the door but didn’t even wait for a response before walking right in.

Easton didn’t even look up, just kept flipping through his documents.

“Easton, great news. Sophia has agreed to partner with HopeTrust,” Ryan said, barely able to hide his excitement.

Easton’s lips curled into a faint smile. “Mm.”

Ryan was surprised. ‘Easton was pretty anxious about Sophia’s answer earlier, so why is he so calm now?’ he wondered.

Easton put down his pen and looked up. “Did Sophia mention when we’re signing the contract?”

Ryan picked up the contract and gave it a little pat. “Strike while the iron’s hot. I’ve already set up a meeting with her at Crestview this afternoon.”

Easton nodded. “Good. Let’s go. I’ll treat you to lunch.”.

Ryan was over the moon. Even though Easton usually footed the bill whenever they went out, he hardly ever actually said he’d treat.

He could tell Easton was in a good mood.

“Alright. Let’s hit up that new fine restaurant in Jenston,” Ryan suggested.

Easton picked up his coat and car keys, his voice low as he said, “That restaurant was opened by Charles.”

Ryan raised an eyebrow. “So he really is moving his whole operation to Jenston? Is he giving up his claim to the throne in Harlinton?”

Easton gave a faint smile. “The power of love can really turn things upside down sometimes.”

The moment Ryan heard the word “love”, May’s image instantly came to mind..

His head started to ache. He knew May was back in Jenston, but she refused to see him.

As soon as they arrived at the restaurant, the manager came out to greet them with a big smile.

He said, “Mr. Foster, Mr. Howard, welcome. Mr. Thorne has arranged your private room. This way, please.”

Easton nodded slightly in response, then caught sight of a familiar car parked by the curb.

He suddenly stopped in his tracks. “Is Ms. Sophia Roth here?”

“Yes. She’s in a room on the second floor with Mr. Hayes,” the manager replied.

When Easton heard that Sophia and Frank were also dining there and were alone together in a private room, his face instantly darkened.

The manager could see that Easton was clearly unhappy, so he quickly added, “Ms. Young is in there too.”

As soon as Ryan heard May, was inside, he hurried ahead, eager to see her.

Easton’s gaze was so cold that the manager started to sweat as he led him upstairs to the second floor.

Ryan knocked on the door and entered.

He exclaimed, “Sophia, what a coincidence! The manager just told us you were here, so we thought we’d stop in and say hello.”

Even though Ryan was speaking to Sophia, his gaze was already fixed on May in the room.

May hadn’t expected to bump into Ryan there. Her face fell instantly. She shot him a cold glance, then just went back to eating, having no intention of acknowledging him at all.

Frank and Sophia stood up and greeted Ryan. “Me Howard, its indeed a coincidence.”

Ryan gave an awkward smile. “Yeah, indeed. Easton and just happened to come for lunch, too. Mind if we join you?”

Sophia didn’t have the bandwidth to worry about how Easton and Frank would interact. Right now, all she cared about was
