417 Chapter 417
417.Chapter 417
Sophia quickly reacted and rushed to help Allison up. “Allison, are you okay?”
Allison’s elbow was seriously scraped and bleeding.
Just then, Easton came over with Gordon, looking anxious. Easton hurried to Sophia and took her arm. “Sophia, are you okay?”
Sophia shook her head. “I’m fine, but Allison took a bad fall.”
Easton checked out Allison’s scraped elbow and gestured for Gordon to come over.
“Let me take care of this, Sophia,” Gordon said.
Gordon steadied Allison by her side. “Allison, I’ll take you to the infirmary.”
Allison couldn’t believe Easton didn’t even look her way, just fussing over Sophia. She was furious.
Easton picked up Sophia’s hard hat from the ground, set it back on her head, and brushed the dust off her clothes with extra care. “Next time, don’t wander over here alone,” he warned.
Just as he finished, the site manager rushed over, looking flustered.
Easton’s expression turned cold. “Aren’t these materials supposed to be kept in a designated spot? How could you let something like this happen?”
The manager was sweating bullets and stammered, “I’m really sorry, Mr. Foster. The materials just got delivered, and I do not expect Ms. Roth to be here at that moment. I’ve already got my team handling it.”
‘Honestly, I can’t just pin this on anyone else, Sophia thought, feeling a bit guilty, She’d been so wrapped up in blueprints that she hadn’t even noticed the workers unloading materials nearby.
Sophia tugged on Easton’s sleeve. “Mr. Foster, I should take some of the blame, too. I was so focused on the plans that I didn’t realize they were unloading stuff right here. It’s really not the manager’s fault.”
The manager shot Sophia a grateful look. He wanted to warn Ms. Roth to take a detour while they were unloading, but got. caught up with something else.
Thank goodness she wasn’t hurt. If she had been, he figured he would be out of a job by now.
Easton felt his anger cool a little after hearing Sophia speak up, but that didn’t mean he was letting it go. Safety on the site was serious business, and the manager still had to answer for what happened.
The manager lost his bonus for the month, but honestly, that was way better than getting fired.
Easton reached out to help Sophia, but she moved ahead before he could touch her.
“Mr. Foster, let me go check on Allison,” Sophia said.
Easton was already used to Sophia brushing him off, so he didn’t say anything and just trailed after her to the infirmary.
Sophia stepped closer, her voice gentle. “Allison, are you alright?”
Allison quickly put on a brave smile as Sophia and Easton came in. “I’m okay, really. Just a scrape.”
The doctor, disinfecting the wound with a serious look, said, “This is a pretty nasty cut. Just a little deeper and it would’ve hit the bone. Allison, are you sure you don’t want stitches?”
Allison bit back the pain and managed a faint smile. “No need for stitches here. It’s not that bad. Give it a few days, and it’ll heal up just fine.”
Sophia frowned as she looked at the wound. “Allison, maybe you should get stitches. Even if it heals, it’ll probably leave a scar. Girls really care about that, you know.
“Plus, you’ll have to go to all those fancy events with Easton and Katherine; having a scar would be such a hassle.”
Allison instinctively glanced at Easton after hearing Sophia’s words. Seeing him just standing there, looking so detached, left a bitter taste in her mouth, but she didn’t let it show.
Sophia caught the look Allison shot at Easton. Sophia thought, ‘Wait, does she…
‘Forget it, this has nothing to do with me.’
