418.Chapter 418
“Alright then,” Allison said in a gentle voice, “But I’m not great with pain. Doctor, go easy on me, okay?”
Sophia felt like she totally owed Allison one this time. She thought, ‘If Allison did not grab me just in time, I would be the one getting patched up right now.’
“Don’t worry, the doctor will numb it for you,” Sophia reassured her, dragging over a stool and sitting beside Allison to keep her company.
Seeing the doctor was about to treat Allison, Easton, and Gordon realized they couldn’t really help here, so they headed out.
“Sophia, I’ll wait for you outside,” Easton said.
Sophia felt awkward. With Allison, the doctor, and the nurse all present, Easton calling her so intimately made her wonder,’ What is he thinking, acting so close in front of everyone?
‘Honestly, he’s unbelievable.’
But Sophia didn’t give it another thought. She glanced at Allison’s injury and frowned. “Allison, I’m really sorry about today. If I hadn’t dragged you into this, you wouldn’t be hurt right now.”
Allison smiled softly. “Ms. Roth, no need to apologize. Like I should just stand there and let you fall? It was just an accident. It’s not your fault, so don’t blame yourself.”
“Hey, where’s May today?” Allison suddenly asked.
“May’s not feeling well, so the legal stuff between Foster Group and Crestview is on hold for a few days,” Sophia explained.
Allison just nodded, trying not to show how much it hurt.
The doctor was quick and precise. He stitched up Allison’s wound and wrapped it in no time. Once he was done, Sophia gave Allison a hand getting up.
“You don’t have to help me. It’s just my arm. My legs work perfectly fine,” Allison said with a smile.
Sophia had mixed feelings about Allison. She always came across as kind and unassuming, confident and gracious, and she had Sophia’s back more than once.
Sophia thought, ‘If Allison really had a thing for Easton, she probably wouldn’t be so friendly toward me, Easton’s ex-wife.’
After what happened with Stella as a warning from the past, Sophia knew she had to stay cautious. Sophia’s Achilles’ heel was the kid, and she couldn’t afford to let her guard down.
When they stepped out of the infirmary, Easton was on the phone.
Sophia turned to Gordon. “Gordon, I’ve got my car. How about I give Allison a ride home? You guys go ahead and get back
to work.”
Gordon looked a bit torn. Easton was still deep in a call with a client and didn’t seem like he would be hanging up anytime
soon.
“Ms. Roth, maybe just wait a bit? Mr. Foster should be done with his call soon,” Gordon said.
Allison didn’t want to head out with Sophia just yet since she hadn’t even spoken to Easton yet.
At the very least, Allison wanted him to see she got hurt trying to save his ex-wife.
“Sophia, why don’t you go ahead? I’ve got some work to discuss with Mr. Foster, so I’ll just leave with him later,” Allison said.
Hearing that Allison and Easton had work to talk about, Sophia figured there was no reason for her to stick around.
Just as she turned to leave, Easton hung up his phone.
“Heading out?” Easton strode over to Sophia.
Sophia nodded. “Yeah, Allison mentioned you two have stuff to handle, so I’ll leave you to it. Once I wrap up today’s report, I’
Il shoot it over to Katherine.”
Easton frowned and thought, ‘Wait, isn’t Allison supposed to send her reports straight to Katherine?’
“I’m all finished here. Let’s head out together,” Easton said.
Allison saw Easton about to leave with Sophia Successfully unloc
unlocked!
“Mr. Foster, I just remembered. I thought I still needed to go over the legal documents with you, but it looks like I’ve finished up as well.” She turned to Sophia with a sweet smile. “Ms. Roth, could you give me a lift?”
