After Sophia had a chance to rest in the side hall, she made her way back to the event. It didn’t take long for her to notice that Ryan’s expression was nothing like it had been that morning.

But with everyone caught up in their own things, Sophia didn’t get a chance to ask what was going on with him.

Easton was supposed to head out to Cedarica first thing this morning, but he insisted on showing up in person for the Angel Fund of Crestview Group’s charity event.

So he delayed his meeting in Cedarica until later in the day, squeezing in a quick video call with his team at the office before coming over.

Time was running short. Gordon had already reminded Easton three times, but Easton just stood there, his eyes glued to Sophia as she moved through the crowd, busy as ever.

“Mr. Foster, if we don’t leave now, we’ll miss it. Today’s meeting is really important,” Gordon said.

Easton didn’t say a word. He finally looked away from Sophia, turned around, and left the event with Gordon following close behind.

With Allison’s help, Frank learned that Easton would be in Cedarica on business for the next few days, so he planned his arrival to show up right when the charity event was halfway through.

“Frank, didn’t you say you were busy today and wouldn’t be able to come?” Sophia couldn’t help but be surprised to see him. Frank flashed her a warm smile. “I wrapped things up early, and since I had some time, I figured I’d swing by and see if you needed anything, Sophia.”

Sophia couldn’t help but notice that Frank had changed. Ever since they had cleared the air about the whole arranged marriage thing, he hadn’t brought it up again, not even a subtle hint or gesture that he wanted anything more.

Being around him now felt so much easier and more relaxed.

It was just like when they were back in school. Things were comfortable because there was no pressure between them.

Frank didn’t bother Sophia at all. After saying hello, he slipped into the crowd and started chatting casually with some people he already knew.

After the charity event ended, Sophia asked Emily to make sure everyone who attended got the thank-you gifts she had put together.

Sophia walked over to Frank, holding a gift. “Frank, this is a thank-you present I specially prepared for you. I won it at an antique auction, and I hope you like it.”

Frank’s face lit up. This was the first time Sophia had ever given him a gift. “Can I open it now?”

Sophia smiled. “Of course.”

Frank carefully opened the box and saw a sleek fountain pen inside.

“I really like it. You were so thoughtful,” Frank said, clearly touched.

Sophia’s eyes twinkled with a warm smile. “Sorry about last night. I had to deal with some work stuff unexpectedly. I still owe you that dinner, so let’s do it another time. My treat.”

When Sophia said she would treat Frank to dinner, she never planned to go alone. She and Emily had gone out together last night.

After all, both of them were part of Jenston’s high society, and if they were spotted dining solo, the paparazzi would be spinning wild rumors in no time.

She mostly just didn’t want to cause any trouble for Frank. He was pushing thirty, and if some scandal or gossip started swirling about the two of them, it could ruin his chances with other heiresses. That’d really be unfair to him.

Frank smiled. “No worries. Whenever you’re free, we can catch up then.”

The charity fundraiser went off without a hitch, but what really blew Sophia away was Easton’s donation. Not only did he give 100 million dollars in the name of Foster Group, but he also personally donated another 150 million dollars.

When Sophia saw the amount, her eye twitched.

‘This guy is seriously loaded. Who in Jenston just drops 250 million dollars to charity like it’s pocket change?’ Sophia thought.
