425.Chapter 425
After wrapping up the charity donation event, Sophia had been enjoying some downtime these past couple of days. When May walked into her office, she noticed there were far fewer files on Sophia’s desk than usual. Sophia was sitting there, looking totally relaxed as she sketched out some design drafts.
“Well, well, Derrick finally grew a conscience and started helping you out, huh?” May teased.
Sophia looked up and smiled. “Yeah, ever since he got back from Riverdale, he has been handling everything himself. I’m just chilling now.”
May sat down in front of Sophia’s desk and casually picked up one of the design drafts. “Is this for Virginia’s hotel chain?” Sophia nodded. “Yeah, Jason said she’ll be back in Haverton next month. Since I’ve got some free time, I’m getting ahead of the next batch of designs so I can bring them along when I meet her. Gotta make a good first impression, right?” “You’ve never actually met Virginia?” May asked, sounding surprised.
May couldn’t help but wonder. It’s been a while since Rothea Designs signed with Virginia, and yet Sophia, the boss, still hadn’t met her client in person.
Sophia shook her head. “Nope, Jason has been handling everything. From the initial talks to signing the contract, he has always been in touch with Virginia’s assistant.
“Jason said he hasn’t been in Haverton for months, so I haven’t had the chance to pay her a proper visit yet.”
May nodded, but couldn’t help adding, “She is so low-key, and it is almost legendary. There’s barely anything about her online, not even a single photo.
“Suncrest Holdings’ hotel chain is everywhere, and ever since Virginia’s husband passed away, she has been all business, no nonsense. She’s one of the toughest female CEOS among Haverton’s elite.”
Sophia had heard some rumors about Virginia, too. Though Sophia wasn’t sure how much of it was true, from the way people talked, Virginia was definitely someone you didn’t want to cross.
“I heard she is from Cambul, and she had already remarried when she moved to Haverton,” May said.
Sophia looked surprised. “How do you know that?”
May covered her mouth and laughed. “Just something I heard around.”
Sophia couldn’t help but scoff.
Then she glanced at May. “May, I ran into Sylvia at the charity event a few days ago.”
May’s smile faded. “Yeah, I figured as much.”
Sophia didn’t bother telling May what Sylvia and her friends said that day. She just kept it simple that she and Sylvia had a bit of a falling out.
May was nobody’s fool. She knew Sophia wouldn’t just start something for no reason. Those girls must’ve mouthed off and pissed her off. Even without Sophia saying a word, May could pretty much guess what went down.
But since Sophia wasn’t saying anything, May didn’t push it.
May didn’t want to get caught up in all that drama, so she grinned and said, “Come on, we’ve got the whole day free.
“Let’s go shopping and treat ourselves to a feast. Let’s put it all on Forrest’s card. He just got paid today.”
Sophia couldn’t help but laugh. ‘She’s really something. Good thing Forrest only has her as his daughter. He might be strict, but he totally dotes on her, Sophia thought.
“Forget it, I can’t bring myself to spend Forrest’s hard-earned cash after all he has done for Cambul. Let’s go. Today, everything is on the guy next door,” Sophia said with a sly grin.
She shot May a mischievous look, and the two of them burst out laughing.
Meanwhile, Derrick was sitting in his office, and his right eyelid had been twitching nonstop all morning.
May was in a fantastic mood, and Sophia was right there with her, stuffing themselves and splurging on clothes and bags. After they had shopped themselves silly, they collapsed into seats at a nearby café to rest their feet.
“May, Sophia, fancy running into you two!” Allis Successfully unlocked!

Ever since Sophia had dropped Allison off at home that day, they had my exchanged a few messages on WhatsApp about her injury, but hadn’t met up since.
