Easton screwed the cap back on the disinfectant and rolled up the gauze, his voice cool and distant. “I used to get hurt a lot as a kid. After patching myself up so many times, it just became second nature.”

Sophia was genuinely surprised. She wondered, ‘Easton is the Foster family’s firstborn and direct heir. Even when his mom took him to Harlinton as a kid, the Scott family and the Hughes family are both rich and powerful families.

‘How could he have gotten hurt so often? And with a family doctor always around, why would he ever need to patch himself up?’

Easton’s eyes darkened, his voice sharp with irritation. “You still haven’t answered me. How did you get hurt?”

Sophia told him all about what happened last night and gave him a quick rundown of how she and Frank had gone to the photography exhibition together in Greenwich.

Easton trusted Sophia completely. He couldn’t bring himself to believe Frank.

“Let’s go. The car’s waiting downstairs, and the plane’s already at the airport,” Easton said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Easton did have a point, but just ghosting and leaving Frank to clean up the mess didn’t sit right with her.

Sophia checked her phone and realized Easton had called her a bunch of times. She had been glued to her computer working, and her phone was silent the whole time. She hadn’t noticed a thing,

Sophia quickly opened WhatsApp and messaged Frank, letting him know Easton had come to get her. She told him to just take care of things on his end, and if he needed her to help clear things up, she was totally on board.

By the time Frank got Sophia’s message, he was already standing right outside her hotel room.

When Easton pulled the suitcase and opened the door, he ended up face-to-face with Frank.

“Sophia, you heading out already?” Frank asked, not even sparing Easton a glance.

Sophia saw Frank and said, “Yeah, he…uh, happened to be around. He heard about what happened, so he’s here to take me

back to Jenston.”

Easton was seriously ticked off. ‘I came here just for her, and Sophia makes it sound like I just happened to be around? And why is she even bothering to explain herself to Frank?’ he thought.
