Frank’s expression darkened. “Easton, I never wanted to hurt her.”

“But you are already hurting her!” Easton shot back. “Frank, you’d better think about what you’re doing.”

Easton couldn’t be bothered to argue with him anymore and turned to leave.

Frank stood in the hallway, anger burning in his eyes, his fists clenched tight.

He pulled out his phone and called Allison. “Easton just picked up Sophia. What do we do now?”

Frank was boiling inside. He thought, ‘Why am I always a step too late when it comes to Easton?’

“Whatever. The rumors are already out there, so you’ve got a perfect excuse to call off the engagement with the Kerr family. Once you’re back in Jenston, just keep up the act,” Allison said.

“And what about you?” Frank asked.

Allison replied, “Don’t worry, everything’s going smoothly on my end. Sophia knows how I feel about Easton, but she hasn’t pushed me away,

“I’ll keep finding more chances to be around her and earn her trust, so it’ll be easier for us to pull off what we’ve planned,”

Allison was a master at reading people. Sophia was smart, but even smart people had their weaknesses. Sophia’s weakness was being too soft-hearted. Stella lost because she couldn’t hide her ruthless ambition from Sophia.

Easton and Sophia arrived at the airport in no time. The reporters were still camped out at the hotel, so the road was clear all the way.

Once they were on the plane, Easton had the flight attendant bring them lunch.

Easton was so attentive and gentle now, it was almost too much for Sophia sometimes.

Easton nodded. “Got it.”

Gordon stood there, looking like he wanted to say something but held back. Sophia noticed and asked, “Gordon, is there something else?”

Gordon glanced at Easton, who gave him a nod to go ahead. “Ms. Roth, as soon as the trending topic about you and Mr. Hayes blew up online, the stock prices for Crestview Group and Hayes Group started tanking.

“Mr. Thorne says Crestview Group might lose a lot by the end of the day.”

Sophia knew this whole mess was bound to affect the company, and Julian and Derrick would probably get grilled by the board.

Easton could see what was weighing on Sophia’s mind. He gave her hand a reassuring pat. “Just eat first. Julian and Derrick are on it, so don’t worry. We’ll figure it out when we get back.”

Sophia’s eyes dimmed, but she still nodded.
