440.Chapter 440

Sophia was a little surprised by his question. “Of course not. Our relationship has always been innocent, and I’m not afraid of what anyone says.”

Frank looked satisfied with her answer, a gentle smile appearing on his lips. “That’s good.”

“Frank, I just saw an update on your company’s website. I heard Hayes Group is planning to get into the hotel industry?” she asked Frank.

“Yeah, that’s right. Who knows, maybe Hayes Group and Rothea Designs might end up working together soon. Do you think Evan would have time to meet a new client like me?” Frank said with a friendly grin.

“Absolutely, you’re welcome anytime,” Sophia replied warmly.

The autumn rain kept falling in a gentle, endless drizzle.

Ever since that night at Windmere Estate, it had been two weeks since Easton last saw Sophia. Every weekend, whenever he showed up at Silvermoon Bay to pick up Lucas, Sophia was either out with May or stuck working late at Crestview.

Easton had tried calling and messaging her on WhatsApp, but she always seemed busy, and they hardly got a chance to really talk.

On Saturday morning, Easton showed up at Silvermoon Bay early, hoping he would finally get to see Sophia. But when Myra came down with Lucas, he could tell Sophia wasn’t home.

As Easton drove, he glanced at Lucas in the rearview mirror. “Lucas, has your mom been really busy with work lately?”

Lucas was flipping through a book, totally absorbed. “Yeah, Mom has been bringing work home a lot these days. She was always in her studies, and after dropping me off at kindergarten in the morning, she heads straight to the office. She’s really working hard.”

“But it’s the weekend. Why isn’t she home with you?” Easton asked.

Lucas looked up. “Dad, I always go to Irene’s house on weekends, so Mom is not going to be home with me.”

Easton cleared his throat. “What I meant was, do you know where your mom is going today?”

Lucas kept reading. “Mom went to the park near Elmwood Bistro to paint. I heard her call May yesterday, but May is really scared of mosquitoes, so I think Mom will go by herself today.”

Hearing Lucas mention it, Easton recalled that a few months back, Gordon had told him Sophia used to love going on outdoor sketching trips. But after everything that happened, she had stopped doing that.

Elmwood Bistro was the family restaurant of Sophia’s mother, who ran it before she passed away. Julian had once invited Easton to visit the place.

After dropping Lucas off at Windmere Estate, Easton drove straight toward Elmwood Bistro out in the eastern suburbs, determined to find Sophia.

was refreshingly cool after the rain, but it wasn’t the right weather for outdoor sketching, so Sophia ended up staying at Elmwood Bistro.

She sat in her favorite spot by the window, gazing out at the scenery, but her pen just hovered over the paper, never quite touching it.

With Sophia there and the rain coming down, Elmwood Bistro hung a sign on the door saying they were closed for the day. The door creaked open in the quiet lobby.

Edith, sitting at the front desk, was surprised. ‘Who would come in at a time like this?’ She wondered.

She stood up, startled to see who walked in. “Mr. Foster?”

Easton nodded. “Is Sophia here?”

Edith nodded and pointed toward the front. “Sophia is over there.”

“Thanks,” Ryan replied.

Easton strode over to Sophia, his long legs carrying him with easy graça

“What are you doing holed up here all by yourself on a weekend?” Easton asked, a hint of concern in his voice.
