441 Chapter 441
441.Chapter 441
Sophia looked up when she heard the voice.
The rainy weather had turned everything outside into a hazy gray. Easton’s tall figure blocked half the corridor lights, and in the dim glow, a gentle halo outlined his profile. There was nothing but tenderness in his eyes.
“Why are you here?” Sophia blurted out.
Easton sat down across from Sophia, lounging back in his chair with a faint smile playing on his lips. “If I told you I hadn’t seen you in ages and came all the way here just to see you, would you believe me?”
Sophia’s expression flickered for a moment before she quickly composed herself. “Easton, you seem to have a lot of free time lately.”
“No matter how busy I am, I’m still not as busy as you, Ms. Roth,” Easton replied.
Sophia lowered her gaze, not responding. She picked up her pen and started drawing. Easton didn’t say another word, just sat with her in silence, letting her do her thing.
Just like back then at the sanatorium, Sophia would sit quietly by his side, simply drawing as she always did.
As evening settled in, Sophia finally set her pen aside and looked up, only to catch Easton staring right at her.
“Easton, as far as I know, Foster Group is always swamped, even on weekends. So how come you’re just chilling here all afternoon?” Sophia teased.
Easton took a sip of water and replied, “My time’s only for what truly matters, and who truly matters.”
Sophia just pursed her lips and let it slide, knowing there’s no point arguing with him.
She packed up her things and stood up. “Let’s get something to eat.”
Easton fell in step behind her, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “Sure.”
Edith was busy instructing the waitstaff to bring out the food. “Easton, last time you came by, you said you loved Roast Chicken. I asked the kitchen to make it again for you today, so please, have some more.”
Easton poured tea for Sophia and nodded slightly. “Thanks.”
Sophia blinked in surprise. “You’ve eaten here before?”
Easton placed the cup before her. “Yeah, last year with Julian.”
‘Oh, right, ‘Sophia thought, ‘That was when Easton first brought up the idea of working with Julian.’
“You really haven’t changed much since you were little,” Easton said.
Sophia’s breath hitched, her heart thumping wildly. ‘Wait, does he actually remember me from when we were kids?’ she thought.
Easton raised his hand and pointed at a photo on the wall.
Sophia looked where he was pointing and realized he meant the picture of her as a child.
Sophia grabbed some food and responded offhandedly.
After dinner, Easton saw that the rain had finally let up. Elmwood Bistro was more like a cozy little manor, so he suggested, ” We just ate. How about we go outside for a walk and help our food settle?”
Sophia had been cooped up here all day, so the idea of getting out for a bit sounded perfect to her. She gladly agreed.
They strolled side by side, and Easton turned to look at Sophia, a hint of teasing in his voice. “Sophia, are you dodging me these days, or is it just my imagination?”
Sophia’s face stayed cool, and her reply was as smooth as ever. “Nope,” she said, not missing a beat.
Easton didn’t buy it for a second. “Sophia, you and your mom really do look alike.”
“Back when I was a kid, everyone said I was the spitting image of her,” Sophia replied.
‘Honestly, Stella looks a lot like Mom, too,’ Sophia thought, ‘If Easton thinks the same.’
“Honestly, I take after my mom a lot, too,” Easton admitted.
Sophia turned to look at him, realizing this was Successfully unlocked! opened up about his mother.
Easton explained, “When we got married, she hau cyft the Foster family. For all these years, she has been living abroad, working on her own career, and has eventually started a new family. That’s why you’ve never met her.
