Replacement Bride Left With His Baby (Sophia and Easton) novel Chapter 443

443 Chapter 443

443.Chapter 443

Sophia gently pushed Easton away, instinctively stepping back a few paces. She said, “Easton, my head’s all over the place right now. I honestly don’t know what to say to you. There are just too many misunderstandings between us.

“So much from the past I can’t talk about, and I really don’t want to look back. Maybe that’s why, deep down, it’s like there’s a trigger inside me. Every time something sets it off, it’s a harsh reminder not to go down that road again.”

Her eyes, bright yet troubled, met Easton’s. “Some pain… can be deadly.”

Sophia didn’t want to admit that, after battling depression and heartbreak, every night was a struggle, and only sleeping pills could help her make it through.

While she was pregnant, Sophia was too scared to take any meds. Nobody had a clue how she survived those months on her own.

Easton tried to move closer, but Sophia held him back. “Easton, please, just give me some time. I don’t want to make any decisions when I’m this confused. It wouldn’t be fair to either of us.”

With that, Sophia turned and walked away.

Easton just stood there, staring at Sophia’s heartbroken silhouette as she walked away. He felt utterly powerless, like the very air around him had vanished, leaving him drowning in the heaviness.

‘Sophia, what d

I have to do for you to trust me, even just once?’ Easton thought.

The morning light was just starting to peek through, and today felt a lot brighter than yesterday.

Sophia had just up when her phone rang. It was Jason.

“Hey, Evan, are you busy?” Jason asked.

“Nope, it’s only seven in the morning here in Jenston,” Sophia replied.

“Oh, sorry, do I interrupt your beauty sleep?” Jason teased.

Sophia gave a small smile and teased, “Do I look like someone who sleeps in?”

Jason chuckled. “Virginia is already back in Haverton. Her assistant said that if you’re available in the next few days, we could swing by and meet up with her.”

Sophia’s mood lifted. “Sounds good. I’ll book my flight and meet you in Haverton/

“Got it,” Jason replied.

After hanging up, Sophia opened her laptop and quickly started looking up flights to Haverton. The soonest one was at ten tonight, which meant she had to land in Haverton at three a.m. local time.

‘If I have to go on this business trip for a few days, should I leave Lucas with the Foster family or send him back to the Roth residence?’ Sophia wondered.

Suddenly, Sophia recalled her conversation with May. Allison was just so unpredictable. She knew it wasn’t right to be overly suspicious, but some things just made her stay cautious.

Especially when it came to Lucas’s safety.

It wasn’t that Sophia doubted the Foster family could take care of Lucas, but she could feel much more at ease if he was

with the Roth residence.

So Sophia called Derrick first, asking if he could swing by Windmere Estate tonight and pick Lucas up, bringing him back to the Roth residence.

Then she called Jason again, letting him know to get all the documents ready and meet her at the Haverton airport ahead

of time.

Once everything was sorted, Sophia packed her things and got ready to leave Elmwood Bistro.

Edith spotted Sophia with her backpack as she came out of her room. “Sophia, up already? That’s early for you!”

Sophia nodded with a smile. “Yeah, I’m heading back into the city. Got a lot of work to handle these days.”

Edith, who treated Sophia like her own daughter nut an arm around her shoulders. “Not long after you got back from your walk last night, I saw Easton get a call and rush Successfully unlocked!ned between you two, right?”

TINE a. Don’t worry. He’s just really busy with work,

Sophia wasn’t surprised Easton had left last night. No, it’s not i always working overtime on weekends.”
