444 Chapter 444
444.Chapter 444
“But I don’t think it was work that made him leave in such a rush. I think I heard him mention something about a hospital, and then the airport,” Edith said.
Sophia couldn’t help but wonder, ‘What could be so urgent that Easton had to rush off and handle it himself?’
Sophia was sure it wasn’t about Irene or Lucas because she hadn’t gotten any calls, so she didn’t even think it could be
them.
Just as Sophia was lost in thought, her phone rang. It was May.
“Hey, babe, are you still at Elmwood Bistro?” May asked.
“Yeah, but I’m about to head out. I might be heading to Haverton in the next few days to meet with Virginia,” Sophia replied.
May’s voice lit up when she heard Sophia was going to Haverton. “You’re going to Haverton? Count me in! I’ve got some free time lately, and I haven’t had a break in ages.
“Let’s go together. Once you’re done with work, we can hit the shops, go skiing, whatever you want.”
Sophia was surprised to hear May actually taking time off. The idea sounded great, so she smiled. “Sure, I’ll book you a ticket, too.”
“Awesome, thanks, babe. I’m gonna get up and swipe Forrest’s bank card. This time, we’re going all out on a shopping spree,” May said excitedly.
Sophia rubbed her forehead, thinking, ‘May is such a handful. Why is she always scheming to get her dad’s bank card?’
Last time Sophia charged Derrick’s card for hundreds of thousands, he nagged her for days. She really couldn’t treat him like her personal ATM anymore. He probably needed to save up for his future wife.
“Counselor May, I heard you pull in eight figures a year. Why are you always after Forrest’s bank card?” Sophia teased.
“You just don’t get it. His money is mine, and my money is still mine. Using my own money is only fair,” May replied.
Sophia couldn’t help but laugh. “You really are a lucky little princess! Since you’re coming with me to Haverton, are you gonna let Ryan know?”
“Of course, I’ll tell him. It’s all about respecting each other as a couple, you know? But he has been so busy lately, he barely has time for me anyway, so I guess it’s the perfect excuse for us to go have some fun!” May replied.
Ever since May and Ryan patched things up, she was back to her bubbly, playful self. Love really is magic.
“Sophia, I heard from Ryan last night that Easton personally rushed Allison’s father, Rowen, to Remony Medical Center in the middle of the night,” May said.
Sophia finally understood. So that was why Easton had left in such a hurry last night. He got to the airport, picked up Rowen, and took him straight to the hospital.
The two families had always been close. Irene had mentioned before that Rowen was Easton’s mentor, so Allison had known from the start about the strained relationship between Easton and his mother when he was a kid.
“How’s he holding up now?” Sophia asked, her curiosity piqued.
“Seems like he’s okay. You know, he’s pushing eighty, so a long flight to Jenston isn’t exactly a walk in the park for someone his age,” May replied.
Sophia nodded in response.

In Remony Medical Center, Allison sat by her father’s hospital bed, head bowed, and hands tightly clasped, silent and lost in
worry.
“Allison, are you listening? Finish up what you’re working on and come back to Menolia with me, right now. And I mean it, you are never setting foot in Jenston again, ever,” Rowen said.
Allison glared at her father, her voice rising. “Dad, you know I came here because I’m serious about Easton. I want to be with him, for real. I just got here, and now you want me to leave? That’s not happening!”
Rowen was so upset that he started coughing “Why are you being so stubborn? You know Easton only has eyes for Sophia from the Roth family. Why do you insisto Successfully unlocked!
