Frank came out after changing, saw Sophia anxiously trying to call someone, and asked, “Sophia, have you managed to get through to them yet?”

Sophia shook her head. “The signal’s terrible. I just can’t get through,” she replied.

A sly glint flashed in Frank’s eyes. Allison was always cautious. She’d made sure the signal was blocked here from the very beginning.

Sophia noticed Frank had injuries all over his face and wrists. She went to the cottage next door and asked the villagers for some medicine.

“Frank, just hang in there. Let me put some medicine on your wounds,” Sophia said.

Frank nodded.

“Who are you people? Why’d you bring so many people here? What are you up to?” Sophia and Frank heard a commotion outside.

“Frank, is something happening out there? Looks like those two villagers are getting into it with someone,” Sophia said. Frank understood the Havertonian language the villagers were speaking. A bunch of people had shown up, but how did anyone even know to come here now?

He got up, walked over to Sophia, and grabbed her arm. “I’ll go check it out. You stay here,” he said.

Frank hobbled to the window and saw a group of people grilling the two villagers.

When Frank got a clear look at the guy leading them, his face turned grim. ‘Fletcher? Why is Easton’s right-hand man here?’ he thought, alarm bells ringing in his head.

‘Did Easton really make it here? Didn’t Allison manage to stall him?’ Frank wondered.

Frank couldn’t believe they’d managed to track down this village. It had been abandoned for years and was tucked away in the middle of nowhere, especially with the blizzard raging outside.

‘Not a chance. Easton can’t find Sophia, at least not right now,’ Frank thought.

“Frank, is something going on out there?” Sophia asked, since Frank was standing in the way and she couldn’t see what was happening outside.

Frank turned back to her with a calm, reassuring look. “It’s nothing. Just a few tourists trying to get out of the storm. They were a bit rude, but the villagers were nice enough to take them to another cottage,” he replied.

Sophia nodded in response.

Moments later, Sophia heard more voices outside. She was pretty sure it was May and Ryan. She spun around and hurried to the door, flinging it open.

Frank moved to stop her, but he was a step too late. ‘No way… May and Ryan actually made it here?’ he thought, caught off guard.

“May!” Sophia called out.

May’s eyes went wide with excitement as she saw Sophia step out. “Sophia, we finally found you. Thank goodness,” she said.

May dashed over and pulled Sophia into a hug, then caught sight of Frank standing just behind her.

“Frank? What are you doing here?” May exclaimed, her eyes going wide when she saw the cuts and bruises on him. She grabbed Sophia, anxiously checking Frank over. “Did something happen?” she asked.

Frank kept his composure. ‘If this plan falls through, I’ll just wait for another shot. But for now, I need to play it cool. No way I’m letting anything slip, and I can’t let them suspect a thing, he thought.

The two “villagers” were Allison’s people, so there was no chance they’d say the wrong thing.

When Ryan came over, Sophia quickly gave them a rundown of everything that had happened at the ski resort today.

Ryan stood off to the side, listening in. The way Sophia and Frank bumped into each other and got robbed sounded like pure bad luck.

But when it came to Frank, Ryan couldn’t shake his doubts. There were just too many coincidences for it to be pure chance. Successfully unlocked!

Now that they’d finally found Sophia, everyone could finatly breathe a title sier.

As for Frank, they’d see about him once Easton showed up.

Just as they were about to head out, Fletcher came running over with a few guys. “Ryan, something’s wrong. There’s been an avalanche in the direction Easton and his team just went,” he said.
