457.Chapter 457
Easton pulled Sophia tightly into his arms, feeling her shoulders shake with sobs. The wetness spreading on his neck seared straight into his heart.
Sophia was soaked from head to toe, her face icy cold.
Easton gently cupped her face in his hands, his voice soft and soothing, “Don’t cry. I’m okay.”
Sophia couldn’t hold back her tears. She didn’t want to say anything, just clung tightly to the man in front of her.
Easton’s warm hands gently wrapped around her waist. He didn’t know what to say, so he just held her, trying to comfort her as she cried.
It wasn’t until Sophia saw Easton standing there, safe and sound, that she finally understood just how deeply she was attached to him. She could never let him go.
After a moment, Sophia gently slipped out of Easton’s embrace.
Easton reached up and softly brushed the tears from the corners of her eyes.
“Easton, now that you’re safe, we can finally relax,” Ryan and Fletcher said as they walked up to him.
Easton gave a slight nod.
Fletcher quickly led the bodyguards, clearing a path for Easton and Sophia.
Ryan added, “Easton, let’s get out of here. The car’s waiting outside. We’ll head back to the hotel. The doctor’s already there waiting for us.”
Sophia instinctively moved to support Easton, her mind always on his injured leg. But before she could, he reached out, his warm hand finding hers, and laced their fingers together, holding on tight.
It wasn’t the first time Easton had taken her hand, but this time, it meant something more. It felt like he was silently promising her they’d never be separated again.
Once they were in the car, Easton turned to Fletcher and said, “Tell Gordon to get the plane ready. We’re heading back to Jenston tomorrow morning.
Sophia looked at him, puzzled, “We’re leaving tomorrow? But you’re still hurt.”
Easton squeezed her hand, his voice calm. “I’m fine. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, we shouldn’t come to Haverton again.”
Sophia thought to herself, ‘Easton must know that Virginia from Suncrest Holdings is actually his mother, Vivian. He doesn’ t want to come here because he doesn’t want to see her.’
“Easton, Rothea Designs and Suncrest Holdings are working together. I can stay away from here, but I can’t really avoid having work contact with Virginia,” Sophia said honestly.
Easton turned to her, his gaze was gentle. “I’ll have Gordon handle all that for you. I don’t want you to have anything to do with her,” he told Sophia.
Sophia paused for a moment. “Honestly, you don’t have to trouble Gordon. Evan can take care of everything at the company. If you don’t want me to interact with her, I’ll do my best to avoid it,” she replied.
For the first time, Easton was genuinely surprised by how easily Sophia gave in.
He half-closed his eyes, a teasing smile playing on his lips. “Sophia, this is the first time you haven’t gone against me. Honestly, it’s a little weird for me,” he said.
Sophia rolled her eyes at him and slipped her hand out of his grasp.
Easton let out a low chuckle and gently pulled her hand right back into his.
When they arrived at the hotel, Easton had Ryan book out the entire floor Sophia was staying ahead of time, but he kept that little detail to himself.
As they stepped into the elevator, Sophia asked, “Which room are you staying in? Is the doctor here yet?”
Easton never let go of her hand. “The hotel’s completely booked up. Looks like I’ll need you to take me in tonight, Sophia.”
Sophia wasn’t buying it. “Seriously? When I booked May’s room, there were still some suites left,” she said.

Sophia went to hit the button for the lobby, ready to ask the front desk herself.
Easton stopped her and handed over his phone. No need to bother both down. Just give them a call,” he said.
Successfully unlocked!
Sophia took Easton’s phone and asked, “What’s the unlock code?”
“Our wedding anniversary,” Easton replied.

Sophia was speechless. ‘Seriously? We’ve been divorced forever. Why does he even remember our wedding anniversary?’ she thought.
Still, she quickly typed in the code and unlocked the phone. Easton stood beside her, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
Sophia called the front desk, and sure enough, they said every room was booked.
