458 Chapter 458
458.Chapter 458
After hanging up, she asked, skeptical, “So where are Fletcher and the others staying?”
Easton replied, dead serious, “The hotel across the street.”
“Then you could just stay there too,” Sophia said.
Easton pulled her close so she was right in front of him. “I don’t want to be that far from you,” he replied.
Sophia cleared her throat, instinctively stepping back and shooting a quick glance at the elevator’s security camera.
“Easton, behave yourself, we’re in public,” she said, a hint of embarrassment in her voice.
Easton caught the shy look on Sophia’s face and, knowing how easily she got flustered, decided not to tease her any further.
Once they got back to the room, the doctor showed up pretty quickly.
“Easton, try lifting your right leg for me,” the doctor said.
Easton did what the doctor asked, and Sophia saw sweat breaking out on his forehead. He must’ve been hurting badly, but he never let it show the whole way here.
The doctor checked over Easton’s right leg for a bit, and when Sophia looked closer, she could see it was a little swollen.
“Easton, once we’re back in Jenston tomorrow, let’s head straight to the hospital and get a CT scan,” the doctor said.
Sophia asked anxiously, her voice trembling, “Is it something serious?”
The doctor shook his head and sighed, “It’s an old injury, usually doesn’t bother Easton, but after that tree fell on him today, I noticed some swelling.”
The doctor added, “I’m worried it could be inflamed. I’ll give him some anti-inflammatory meds for now, but just to be on the safe side, it’s better to get a CT scan.”
Easton saw the worried look on Sophia’s face and gently took her hand. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious. Doctors always exaggerate a little,” he told her.
Just then, Ryan and Warren came in, lugging Easton’s bags.
Ryan grinned, “So, what did the doc say? That old injury of yours isn’t acting up, right?”
Easton’s face dropped the moment he heard “old.” “I’m fine. I could still kick your ass a few times,” he replied.
Ryan just shrugged and laughed, “Please, even if you let me have one leg up, I’d still lose to you.”
Easton smirked.
As Ryan was about to head out, Sophia suddenly remembered something and called after him at the door. “Ryan, how’s Mr. Hayes doing?”
“Sophia, don’t worry. I’ve already asked his assistant to go pick him up,” Ryan assured her.
Sophia nodded, “Sorry to trouble you.”
”
Even though Sophia couldn’t quite figure out why Frank was acting so strange today, they’d all been through a lot together, and after everything that happened, she couldn’t just ignore it.
When Sophia walked back into the room, she was met with Easton’s aggrieved stare.
“Why was Frank with you at the ski resort? How did you two end up getting robbed out of nowhere? And just how long were you stuck together in that village house…” Easton asked.
Sophia shot back, “Why all the questions? You already heard what Ryan said. So what’s this about trying to put me on trial, or just planning to hold it against me later?”
“And for the record, I didn’t go to the ski resort with Frank. Can you stop questioning me like I’m on trial here? I really don’t like it,” Sophia said, a little annoyed.
Easton could hear the edge in Sophia’s voice. He knew he was acting jealous, but what really freaked him out was the idea of her shutting him out.
Not wanting to risk it, he hurried over and wrapped her in his arms. He asked, “Are you mad?”
Sophia bit her lip and dropped her gaze. “No,” Successfully unlocked!
Before she knew it, Easton had pulled her into his amuse that Sophia could feel the heat of his breath against her skin.

“Can’t you tell I’m jealous?” Easton asked, his voice low and a little teasing, though deep down he was a bit anxious.
Sophia glanced at him, her mind suddenly blank. She had no idea how to respond to his confession.
Easton lowered his head and pressed a gentle kiss on her forehead. Then, slowly, he leaned in and.kissed her soft lips.
He pulled away before the kiss could deepen.
Easton held Sophia close once more, his arms wrapped tightly around her. “Sophia, don’t ever leave me again,” he said.
