474.Chapter 474
Julian added, “Looks like she was deliberately keeping it under wraps. Otherwise, why would you even only find out just now?”
Easton crossed his legs, not really feeling like discussing Vivian.
Julian said quietly, “I don’t want Sophia spending too much time around her. Derrick told me he’s already got Paolo following up on the hotel chain business, and Evan from Rothea Designs is coordinating things on their end.”
Easton nodded. “I know.”
Julian had learned a bit about Vivian. Easton’s mom was definitely not someone to be underestimated.
It’s best if Sophia steers clear of her as much as she can.
“From what she said, it sounds like she’s planning to move some of her overseas business back home. That means she might be sticking around for the long haul,” Julian said slowly.
Easton took a sip of his coffee. “It’s pretty clear what she’s after.”
“Annie’s been worried about you, and Evelyn too. They both want me to talk to you more,” Julian said.
Easton nodded. “I’m good, really. Just let them know I’m fine and keep them calm for me.”
Julian didn’t hold him up from picking up Sophia after work. After exchanging a few words about business, Easton left the
CEO’s office.
Sophia was on her way to the secretarial office, buried in her files and barely glancing up. She didn’t even notice Easton standing right in her path.
“Sophia, ready to clock out?” Easton teased.
Sophia thought someone was blocking her way, but when she looked up and saw Easton, her lips curled into a smile before she even realized it.
May was totally right. When you’re falling hard for someone, just seeing them makes you grin like an idiot.
Easton didn’t care who was watching in the office. He just strode over, grabbed Sophia’s hand, and grinned, “Any cravings for dinner tonight?”
After handing her files to Emily, Sophia leaned in toward him. “All good, you pick,” she replied.
They ended up deciding to hit up Charles’s trendy seafood.
They walked into the same private room they’d used for that group dinner with six of them last time.
The moment Sophia stepped inside, she couldn’t help but smile at herself.
“Easton, you must’ve felt pretty awkward that night, huh?” she teased.
Easton knew exactly what Sophia meant.
“Tell me about it. I finally got you out for our first dinner alone, and it ended up as a six-person party,” he said with a mock sigh.
Just thinking about it now, Easton wanted to drag Charles and Ryan out and give those two troublemakers a good beating.
Sophia took his hand. “It’s not too late to make up for it now.”
As Sophia pulled him closer, Easton scooped her up and settled her onto his lap.
He said, “We’ve already lost so many years. I don’t want to miss out on any more time just the two of us.”
He added, “Promise me, no matter how busy work gets, whenever we have a moment, we’ll do this, eat together, talk, and be with each other.”
Sophia wrapped her arms around his neck. “Okay.”
Before he knew it, Easton’s hand was on her cheek, and he pulled her in for a gentle, lingering kiss, soft, tender, and full of longing.
The kiss burned with both heat and sweetness, leaving her breathless.
After a moment, Easton pulled a classic bracelet from his pocket, ready to slip it onto Sophia’s wrist.
“Isn’t this the antique bracelet you won at last year’s auction? Sophin asked

Easton nodded. “Yeah, I wanted it to be your birthday present last year but you turned me down, Sophia.”
Sophia lowered her head, a soft smile spreading across her lips.

Easton lifted her hand, pressed the bracelet to his lips and kissed it gently. “It looks gorgeous on you. Do you like it?” he asked.
Sophia’s smile was gentle and a little shy. “I love it,” she replied.
Easton actually had a ruby ring tucked away in his pocket, too. He’d won it at the same auction as the bracelet. That very day, he had Gordon send it to Florince to have the ruby crafted into a ring.
But he knew this wasn’t the right moment to propose.
