Easton shoved his hands into his pockets, clenching his fists tight. He didn’t say a word to Vivian, just turned and left the hotel without so much as a glance back.

Once they got in the car, Gordon checked the rearview mirror and saw Easton sitting in the back, his face stormy and the air around him practically freezing.

“Easton, are we heading to Crestview to pick up Sophia?” Gordon asked.

When Easton heard Sophia’s name, his eyes finally lost some of that icy edge.

“Yeah,” he replied.

Half an hour later, the car pulled up to the Crestview Group building. Sophia had come down a few minutes early to wait for

him.

Easton hurried over to Sophia and draped his coat over her shoulders. “Why didn’t you wait for me in your office? It’s really windy out here,” he asked gently.

Sophia reached out and hugged him around the waist. “Thought you’d be here any minute, so I came down early. I didn’t want you to have to come all the way up.”

Easton leaned down and kissed her forehead. “You’re always so thoughtful. You’re going to spoil me.”

Sophia ducked her head and smiled, “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

After they got in the car, Sophia saw that Easton was quiet, so she simply sat quietly by his side, keeping him company in silence.

Half an hour ago, Sophia got an anonymous text with a two-minute video. It was a short exchange between Easton and

Vivian.

When Sophia heard the last line, her eyes flashed with surprise for a moment.

She couldn’t figure out who sent it or what they wanted. Right now, all that mattered to her was Easton’s feelings.

People say even a tiger won’t harm its own cubs, but Vivian had tried to hurt Easton before. Sophia just couldn’t understand how a mother could be so cruel.

Even though she was shocked, her heart ached for Easton.

But Easton kept it all to himself, and seeing him like that just broke Sophia’s heart.

When they got back to Silvermoon Bay, Lucas had already gone to his room with Mia to rest.

After Easton walked into the master bedroom, Sophia hugged him from behind. “Did you have a rough night?” she asked.

Easton turned around slowly and gently hugged her back. “Yeah.”

Sophia looked up at him. “Can you tell me about it?” she said with concern.

Easton leaned down and kissed her forehead, then took her hand and led her to the couch. “I met Vivian tonight. We talked about some pretty tough stuff.”

Sophia gently linked her arm through Easton’s, quietly listening to him as he spoke.

Easton said quietly, “Murray’s death… In a way, it’s on me. I owe him big time.

“Back when we started our investment firm, we got an offer from a new energy company in Yorkland. Everything was smooth at first. If the deal worked out, we’d be rolling in cash.

“Murray was so into it, he set up a temporary office in Yorkland half a year ahead of schedule, and that’s where he first met Stella.”

Easton paused for a moment and continued speaking, “Stella played Murray. She spiked his drink while he was in Yorkland, and they ended up in bed together.

“Not long after, Stella got pregnant and started blackmailing Murray, threatening to spill everything on Katherine if he didn’t do what she wanted.

“He never told me a thing about what happened to Stella. Back then, Murray was all about building a future with Katherine. No way he’d let Stella mess that up.”
