“I’ll pick you up after work. Be good and wait for me at the office, got it?” Easton said.

Sophia just mumbled a quick “yeah” and hung up.

May was right next to her, so she overheard bits of their conversation. She teased with a sheepish grin, “What kind of package could get you blushing like that? Don’t tell me it’s something spicy between you and Easton?”

Sophia quickly clamped a hand over May’s mouth. “Hey, keep it down! We’re in public. Have some decency, will you? I still care about my reputation.”

May had never seen Sophia so embarrassed before, and honestly, she found it absolutely adorable.

She slung an arm around Sophia’s shoulders and whispered in her ear, “You two can have fun, but until you’re ready for baby number two, make sure you’re being careful.”

She added, “You know how Lucas was born. One time, and boom, you were pregnant.”

Sophia was honestly a little worried about that, too. Except for that one night right after they got back from Haverton, when they skipped protection, she’d always made sure Easton was careful.

‘No way I’m that lucky again, right? One time and I’m pregnant?’ Sophia thought, feeling a little anxious.

Allison had been at the Cedarica research center for three days. As she stepped out of her office, she overheard the project manager say that Easton would be coming by tomorrow to inspect the operations.

Her eyes sparkled with excitement. ‘Finally, Easton’s coming. Tomorrow’s my chance,’ she thought.

She quickly called Frank and told him to make sure the right people were ready for tomorrow.

Cedarica was much milder than Jenston, so when Easton landed at the airport, he was just in his usual tailored suit.

This time, Easton wasn’t planning to stick around Cedarica for long. He wanted to finish up his work in the morning and catch a flight back to Jenston by seven at the latest.

Sophia asked if all this back-and-forth wasn’t exhausting, especially since they had a place in Cedarica and he could easily stay the night. But Easton just said he’d have trouble sleeping without her next to him.

Sophia couldn’t win against his sweet words, so she didn’t bother getting his luggage ready.

After Easton, Gordon, and Warren left the airport, they hopped into the company car, with the research center’s project manager behind the wheel.

Once they were in the car, Easton asked, “How’s the product dispute case going?”

“Mr. Foster, Allison met with them face-to-face on her very first day. One of the companies already signed the settlement,” the manager explained.

He continued, “And while Rowen was here in Cedarica, he personally guided the tech team to use the latest innovations and really leveled up our product quality.

“Allison also promised to recall all the defective batches and get the new products delivered to the clients before the deadline.”

Easton nodded slightly. ‘Rowen really hasn’t lost his edge. With him on board, I can actually breathe easily. And the old man even flew all the way from Menolia just to help out, guess I seriously owe him one,’ he thought.

“And what about that other company? They keep stalling and refuse to settle out of court. What’s up with them?” Easton asked.

The project manager looked baffled. “Ms. Chandler thought we had everything settled when she came by, but then, out of the blue, they just changed their minds a few days later.”

When the car pulled up to the research center, Easton and Gordon got out and walked into the lobby. There, they spotted Allison chatting with a group of clients.

It looked like they’d brought a whole entourage, and there were even several reporters snapping photos. With that kind of crowd, it was obvious they weren’t here to talk business. They were here to make a scene.
