By the time Sophia and Katherine arrived at the research center, it was already past four in the afternoon.

Because of the commotion earlier this morning, there were now a lot more security guards posted at the entrance.

After Katherine called the research center’s general manager, he personally came down with his assistant to greet them.

“Hello, Ms. Chandler. I’m sorry, but because of what happened this morning, we had to tighten security at the research center,” the general manager said.

“I wasn’t aware you’d be arriving at this time, so I wasn’t able to come down to greet you on time,” he added.

Katherine waved her hand. “It’s fine. We were in a rush and didn’t have time to let you know what time our flight was.”

The general manager smiled, then looked at Sophia. “And this is?” he asked.

Katherine rolled her eyes inwardly. ‘This old guy really has no clue. The big boss’s wife is standing right in front of him and he doesn’t even recognize her, she thought.

Katherine introduced her, “This is Ms. Roth from Crestview Group.”

The general manager hadn’t quite caught on yet, but as soon as he heard “Crestview Group,” he immediately reached out to greet Sophia.

“Hello, Ms. Roth,” he said.

He assumed Sophia was a client Katherine had brought along, so he didn’t dare be rude and quickly greeted her first.

Sophia gave a gentle smile and shook his hand in return.

“Hello, Manager Howell,” she said.

After the introductions, Katherine and Sophia made their way to the research center’s office building.

Howell’s assistant trailed behind him and quietly nudged, “Manager Howell, Ms. Roth from Crestview Group is actually the former lady of Foster Group. Well, soon to be the current boss’s lady again.”

Howell froze mid-step, his face stunned. “Wait… What did you just say?” he said.

The assistant added, “Ms. Roth you just shook hands with? She’s the vice president of Crestview Group, the second daughter of the Roth family, Mr. Foster’s ex-wife and now his girlfriend. Does that clear things up?”

Howell’s jaw dropped and stayed that way for a good while. Then he reached out and gave his assistant a light smack on the back of the head. “Why didn’t you give me a heads-up earlier? You wait until now?” he said.

Howell’s forehead broke out in a cold sweat. ‘Oh man, did I screw up just now? Did I say anything dumb? Thank goodness I came down to greet them myself, he thought.

He shot his assistant a glare. “Ex-wife? Current girlfriend? Please, she’s the real queen around here! Damn it, this is all your fault. I totally missed my chance to get noticed by Her Majesty.”

He added, “If this screws up my evaluation and I don’t get promoted to Jenston headquarters, I’m blaming you, got it?”

The assistant could only sigh helplessly. ‘What can I do? My boss never reads gossip news, he’s only ever into those palace drama shows, he thought.

When Katherine and Sophia got to the executive suite on the top floor, Gordon happened to step out of the office.

“Ms. Roth, what brings you here?” Gordon looked genuinely surprised to see Sophia and hurried over to greet them.

“I was actually out with Ms. Chandler, checking out the construction site in the Southern Development Zone. Then she got

a call from your team about some incident here, so I suggested we come over together,” Sophia said in a calm tone.

Sophia gave Gordon a gentle look, then glanced past him at the office door. “Is Easton inside?” she asked.

Gordon thought, ‘Talk about bad timing. “Ms. Roth, the secretary just told me Easton left the research center. He drove Rowen to the hospital to visit Allison,” he explained.

Sophia’s eyes dimmed for a moment, but she simply nodded

“I’ll just give him a call then,” she said.
