Gordon looked a bit awkward and guilty. “Ms. Roth, I’m really sorry, but Easton’s phone has been with me the whole time. He went straight to the lab to meet with Rowen and the others as soon as he got here.

“And when he finally came out, he was in such a rush to take Rowen to the hospital to see Allison that I didn’t even get a chance to catch up with him.”

Katherine stood off to the side, genuinely worried for Easton. ‘Women’s intuition never lies; she thought, watching Sophia’s expression, ‘Yeah, she’s definitely upset right now.’

But she couldn’t really blame Gordon. With everything that happened today, he’d been running around dealing with the distributor mess until she showed up to take over.

Katherine figured Gordon probably hadn’t even had lunch yet.

‘Poor guy, just another day in the life of a working stiff,’ she thought.

“I’ll call Warren right now and have him let Easton know,” Gordon said, quickly pulling out his phone.

“No need, I’ll just grab a cab and head to the hospital myself. I want to check on Allison. She got seriously hurt today trying to save Easton, so it’s only right I visit her first,” Sophia said.

Gordon quickly added, “Ms. Roth, would you mind waiting ten minutes? I just need to grab a quick bite, then I’ll drive you over myself.”

Sophia nodded. “Don’t rush, take your time with your meal. You worked hard today. I’ll wait for you downstairs.” Then she turned to Katherine, “Katherine, go ahead and do your thing. Let’s talk tonight.’

With that, Sophia headed for the elevator.

Half an hour later, Sophia and Gordon got to the hospital. Since Warren was still unreachable, they had to ask at the front desk which room Allison was staying in.

When they reached the room, the door was ajar, and voices drifted out into the hallway.

“Mr. Foster, can you talk to the doctor for me? I really don’t want to stay in the hospital…” Allison’s voice floated out from inside.

Rowen’s voice was loud and firm, “Allison, quit making a fuss. It’s not just your shoulder. Your leg’s in a cast, too. If you don’ t get proper treatment, you’ll end up with some nasty aftereffects.”

“But the Henton Enterprises case still isn’t wrapped up. I just don’t trust anyone else to handle it. I swear, I’ll be careful,” Allison said, sounding genuinely anxious.

“Relax, I’ve already got Katherine on it. You don’t need to worry about work. Just listen to the doctor and focus on getting better. Don’t stress Rowen out,” Easton replied.

He sounded so gentle that anyone passing by might’ve thought he was Allison’s boyfriend, the way he was talking to her.

Sophia lingered outside the door, showing no sign of wanting to go in. Gordon noticed her reluctance.

“Ms. Roth, want to head in?” he asked.

Right then, Sophia’s phone started vibrating with a call.

“I’ll just grab this call,” she said.

Gordon nodded.

Just as Sophia stepped away, Warren came walking up. Gordon looked a bit flustered. “Why didn’t you pick up my call?” he asked.

Warren held up his phone. “My phone’s been busted since this morning, after I brought Allison to the hospital.

“I didn’t have a spare moment to get it fixed until Easton arrived, then I finally ran it over to the mall across the street. What did you need?”

Gordon rubbed his forehead, exasperated. “Seriously, just get a new phone already.”

After waiting several minutes, Gordon still hadn’t seen Sophia return from her call, Just as he was about to go look for her, he received a text from her.
