498.Chapter 498
He added, “If you keep quiet and he doesn’t ask, all those little things will pile up, and one day it’ll all blow up.”
Sophia smiled softly, “Don’t worry, Uncle Edward. I know what I’m doing.”
At dinner time, Sophia came out of the kitchen carrying a plate of food. Just then, Julian and Derrick walked in. She looked up and smiled, “You’re back…”
Before she could finish, Sophia noticed someone else standing behind Julian and Derrick.
Easton handed three bottles of wine to the butler, then walked over to Sophia. “Why didn’t you tell me you were coming here for dinner?” he asked.
Sophia smiled at him. “You told me this morning you had a business dinner and wouldn’t be home tonight. I had nothing going on this afternoon, and I missed Uncle Edward, so I just came over to spend some time with him.”
Easton pulled Sophia close as they sat down together. “If you didn’t want me to go to those dinners, I could’ve come here and had dinner with you instead.”
Sophia took his hand and said, “I didn’t want to mess up your work. It’s not a big deal.”
and said,
Easton squeezed her hand tightly, saying nothing.
Derrick sat across from them, grinning like a troublemaker. “I came home from work starving, and before I could even eat, you two started lovers’ talking. Seriously, am I supposed to eat dinner or just watch you guys be all lovey-dovey?”
Sophia pulled her hand out of Easton’s. “Suit yourself.”
Easton just smiled and looked down.
After dinner, everyone except Sophia and Annie stayed sober, but the guys totally went overboard.
They finished off the three bottles Easton brought, and then Julian pulled out one of Edward’s best bottles from the wine cabinet. Of course, they ended up draining that one, too.
If Sophia hadn’t stepped in, Derrick honestly looked like he was determined to get Easton completely wasted.
Edward was about to suggest they spend the night, but Sophia knew Easton was super picky about where he sleeps. If it’s not his own bed, he just can’t do it.
If he can’t sleep, he’ll just toss and turn and drag her into it.
Just picturing that made Sophia cringe, so in the end, she drove Easton home..
Half an hour later, they got back to Silvermoon Bay. Sophia parked the car, got out, and went over to the passenger side to help Easton with his seatbelt.
But as soon as she let go, Easton pulled her right into his arms.
“Sophia, are you mad at me?” he asked.
“No, I’m not. Come on, let’s go inside. We’re home,” Sophia replied.
Easton’s arms tightened around her, his warm breath brushing against her ear. “Is this because of Allison? Are you jealous, Sophia?” he asked.
Easton buried his face in the crook of Sophia’s neck.
He said, “Honestly, I should be glad you’re jealous. It means you care. But whenever you get jealous, you calm down and act all cold toward me. It really makes me anxious.”
Sophia thought to herself, ‘Since when have I ever acted cold toward him? Every time I see him, I’m always grinning at him.’ Sophia wondered, ‘Not once have I ever given him attitude or snapped at him.’
Easton lifted his head and cupped Sophia’s face in his hands. “You’re my wife, the one I put so much effort into winning back. If you’re even a little unhappy, it makes me feel awful. Do you know?” he murmured.
Sophia never thought Easton would be this sensitive, let alone so gentle about her feelings.
“Easton, I admit, when I saw that news video, it honestly made me feel pretty awful. But I’ve never once doubted your feelings for me. As for Allison…” Sophia said.
Easton shook his head. “It’s my fault. I didn’t give you enough security, so you ended up overthinking and feeling bad.”
Sophia reached up and hugged him back. “No, Successfully unlocked! for me. Whenever I’m upset or overthinking,
you’re always there for me.”
After a while, Easton suddenly leaned in and kissed Sophia. “So… Would you say yes if I asked you to marry me?” he asked.
